On Thursday, Grab App faced a serious glitch where its app showed that rides to any destination cost only $6. It is alarming that one of the best ride-hailing app could be plagued by a serious glitch.

Posts Flooded Facebook about Grab App Glitch

During the occurrent of the Glitch,Grab drivers called frantically to Grab hotline to clarify why was the fares so low. In addition, posts flooded Facebook where drivers and riders were surprised that a trip to any destination would cost only $6. At first, we thought that it was a publicity stun by Grab but soon realised that it was indeed a glitch.

A driver commented on Facebook: “Today Grab lelong ride? Rider told me all car options is at $6 in his rider app”.

To understand the viewpoints of Grab drivers, we went to talk with a Grab driver and asked his opinions about this matter. He responded by saying that  Grab App Glitch makes him questioned whether the trip was really worth $6 and he thought Grab was offering a big offer that day. We assured him that it was a Grab App Glitch and believe that this was an isolated glitch.

Grab has responded to the media by saying that they will honour the fares for all rides completed during this glitch.In addition, Grab will compensate affected partners who have taken bookings with lower fares than usual.It apologises for all the inconvenience caused.

Grab Guaranteed Income Scheme

The Grab App glitch occured a few days after Grab released an attractive Guaranteed Income scheme for drivers. For Diamond(By Invitation Only), a driver could earn a gross amount of $11888 if he drives 180 trip/week. A handful of drivers expressed concern whether they are able to hit 140-180 trips.
