New High-Speed Rapid Doors Controller

The High Speed Rapid Doors Controller shortens cycles to improve energy efficiency without hindering traffic. A touch screen interface improves ease of use for facility managers, installers and service technicians.

Albany has released a revolutionary door control that offers a new way to interact with its high-performance doors. However, the biggest advance in this new controller is the optimization of the cycle times of the door to reduce power consumption.

At the beginning of the door opening cycle, the high speed doors accelerates the speed of the drive faster than any other door controller. For example, on the RR-300, it goes from 0 to 120 inches per second, almost 30% faster than other controllers. Conversely, it takes less time to stop at the end of an open or closed cycle. By reducing these ramp times, the gate spends more time at its maximum speed, which shortens the cycle time.

The High Speed Rapid Doors Controller also works with various sensors to minimize door opening time. This is important when trying to avoid the loss of heated or cooled air (or to prevent air contamination). If the automatic closing time is reduced to a minimum, the door remains open until the provided photo-eye sensors indicate that the threshold is cleared. The High-Speed Rapid Doors Controller can also adjust the opening height of the door depending on the entrance. For example, a vehicle may trigger a sensor to open the door at full height, while a person may press the touch screen to open the door at a height of only 7 feet.

For users, the color display can serve as an input, provide clear traffic signals and provide a warning when the door is closed. For installers and technicians, the touch interface significantly improves the construction and maintenance of the door. The installer can set limits, input actions, closing functions, and availability programs through intuitive menus. Maintenance technicians can view logs and error codes without having to open the control panel. Most importantly, they can schedule regular maintenance reminders based on time, date, or cycles.
