Smart ways to tidy up, heal and set your life in order

Sneaker cell

You can’t go on a vacation without your favorite pair of sneakers. But you also can’t let your muddy shoes run amok in your luggage. To protect the rest of your stuff, simply pop your shoes into a shower cap so that the soles go in first. The elastic around the shower cap will help keep the shoes in place while the plastic will prevent sand and dirt from getting anywhere.

Straw man

Sick of having to untangle your earphones or fine necklaces each time you reach for them? Use a drinking straw to organize these delicate items better, insert the necklace or earphones into a straw to keep everything straight.

Stain-free

Fo food spills on fabric, use a spoon or butter knife to scrape the food out and then treat the stain with just a little shaving cream. Apply the cream directly to the stain and let it dry for 30 minutes. Then use a dry Cloth to gently wipe off the stain.

Sticky clean

If you often eat at your desk, you know what a crumb-magnet your keyboard can be. To clean it out instantly and easily, simply run the sticky side of a post-it note through the keys and get rid of most of the gunk that way.

Fresh can

Tons of garbage goes through your trash can and it’s pretty important to keep cleaning it by regularly to keep odors at bay. This can easily be done with the help of some lemons and vinegar. Slice a few lemons into small pieces and then freeze them in an ice-cube tray along with some vinegar. Drop these lemon-vinegar cubes in the can every few days to keep it fresh. Be sure to wash and rinse the can.

Drain easy

To prevent the Kitchen sink from clogging, occasionally pour some boiling water down the drain. This ensures that all the oils and other remains from food products run down the drain directly.

Spud storage

Place potatoes in a paper bag or cardboard box and store in a dark and humid place to increase their shelf life. Check regularly for soft or bad potatoes.

Flour power

To undo the damage from harsh chemicals, apply some dry flour onto a  microfibre cloth and gently wipe your stainless steel appliances, Kitchen Sink or counter. Rinse off with plain water and wipe with a clean dry cloth.

Blade cleaner

Clean your kitchen exhaust fan by pouring liquid soap and a quarter cup of baking soda mixed with hot water into a spray bottle. Spray onto the blades, and filters and scrub with a cloth. Detachable blades can be soaked in this solution until you get rid of the grease.

Scent it up

Indian kitchens have a reputation for turning out delicious food and getting that spicy tadka smell on everything! To nix the problem, soak cotton balls in vanilla extract and leave them around the kitchen. You can also try essential oils like lavender or rose.
