Top 4 Hacks To Speed Up Your Sluggish Computer

Frustrated with your slow Computer performance? There are a few hacks which can improve the speed of your computer instantly. Try these out before you type in ‘computer repair near me’ in your browser. Most of the issues with the sluggish computer can be sorted out if you can understand how your operating system works. Agreed, that Windows 10 is an amazing operating system. With Cortana, the virtual assistant and the way the Windows OS adapts to the tablet and the laptop makes it worthwhile. Also, the Mac OS being easier to operate as compared to Windows could slightly have the added advantage over speed, however, this is a highly controversial topic as to which OS does better in terms of speed. Having said that, while there are many factors that influence the speed of the computer like the RAM, Hard Disk space, the OS also plays a major role.

A few hacks like removing the browser extensions can improve the speed of your computer. However, if these simple tricks are not helping much, let’s try out something more technical to boost your slacking computer.

Tips to improve the speed of your computer:

1. Cut down the number of automatic launches:

Let’s give you a short background about what happens when a system boots. This could be enlightening especially if you are a non-technical person. When a system boots, along with it start a number of other applications, which might or might not be of any use to the user. To a regular user, it is not clear as to what applications start automatically. In order to avoid the redundancy, you can instead limit the number of applications that launch automatically.
What is expected from you?

• Right-click on the taskbar.
• Choose Task Manager from the pop-up menu.
• Choose the Start-up tab. You will be able to see all the applications that startup along with the system.
• Click on the ones you do not use very often and select disable button.

You can always open the applications manually when you need them instead of having them launch automatically thereby slowing down the system.

2. Free-up Hard-disk space:

The Operating Systems love to have more hard-disk space so that they can accommodate the temporary files. So, freeing up the hard-disk space by deleting the temporary and the unused files can boost the computer speed instantly. There are two ways you can achieve this.

a. Windows 10 has this special feature that allows you to see the breakup of the space used up by the different kinds of files like image, videos, games apps and so on. Follow the instructions below and free up the hard-disk space:

• Click Start Menu.
• Select Settings.
• Select System.
• Choose Storage.

Use the breakup to clear the unused files.

b. The second way out is to use the Storage Sense feature of the Windows 10. Select the Storage Sense feature under the Settings tab of the Storage screen. This action will automatically delete the temporary files and empty the recycle bin automatically to free up the disk space.

3. Remove the visual frills:

Windows is known for the Visual Effects. You can mix and match with various effects like the fades, shadows and the animations to improvise the effects aesthetically. However, these apparently have a negative effect on the computer speed.

Here’s what you do:
• Open Taskbar.
• Type in sysdm.cpl in the search box.
• Click the Settings tab to disable animations, shadows, and other visual effects.
• Alternatively, to remove all the visual effects, you can choose the Adjust for best performance checkbox.

4. Time for Registry Cleanup:

We do not suggest this hack unless you are a computer expert. However, you can have it cleaned up by a person who is well-versed with the computers. All you have to do is search for “regedit “ in the search bar of the startup menu. The registry typically consists of all the settings and the buttons of the File Explorer to most complex references. Therefore, you will always find the Registry sprawling with entities. Freeing up the unnecessary entities will boost up the performance of the computer. But let’s leave it to the technicians and we strongly condemn you from trying out this hack all by yourself.

Having tried out the first three hacks and still find the computer slogging behind in performance, then realize it’s time to type in ‘computer repair near me’.
