The US Travel Ban Would be Detrimental to American Universities

After Donald Trump issued his destructive and cold-hearted executive order following his inauguration, with the intentions to suspend immigration to the US from 7 mainly Muslim countries, many people were shocked and  scared – with objections being made from campuses throughout America, and for valid reasons too! Clearly the ban affects Muslims, including current and future students, but the reach is so much wider than this, something in which many people do not seem to be realising.

A number of Universities in America have been at the forefront of confrontation, expressing their views and boasting the many benefits of immigration. In fact, last week a group of leading US universities including but not limited to Stanford, Harvard and Yale filed papers in a Brooklyn federal court to challenge the ban. 17 universities in total joined together to show how passionate they are, explaining that the travel ban not only affected students and staff, some of which were left stranded in other countries and unable to access the US, but also future international talent which could contribute highly to Americas success.

Amid a horrific atmosphere of political disruption with policies going against the interests of institutions and education, such fears and anxieties are totally valid and it great to see people standing up for themselves.

What you should do

With so much uncertainty regarding what the future holds, it has become widely apparent that many people planning on studying in the US are now changing their minds an opting to apply to universities in alternative, more welcoming companies. However, we would like to strongly urge all with deep desires to study in America to not lose hope.

Instead of people put off studying in America completely, we urge people to contact leading and highly reputable emigration solicitors, whom will be able to provide leading advice and guidance regarding the process. These specialist solicitors can now only provide a wealth of information at all times, allowing for people across the world to gain a deeper understanding, but can also stand by your side throughout the entire process, heightening your chances of entry.

Top tip: With the USA’s immigration processes becoming more stringent by the day, when looking for an emigration solicitor we advise to choose one who specialises in America.

What are your thoughts? We would love to hear people’s opinions…
