                                STRAFING
 Dark thunder, Red thunder
Strafing
In an avalanche
They aim to consume us

Sizzling points of death
Rained down on us
Pinpoint accuracy reflected

Now we are all dead
Ambling morons
That has lost out
Awaiting the cyclone

Debris of our charred remains
Encrusted by time
Kept corrupting
That the unborn might inhale
Its pungent smell

It is a midnight strafing
That has saturated our heads
Helter-skelter we run
Seeking for the control panel

Dead nerves unearthed
That seeks the needle, flow
Warmth long forgotten
That we might come alive again
An acupuncture we all need.

AUTHOR’S NOTE
I have been fascinated with acupuncture the traditional Chinese alternative medicine methodology for a long while. A patient is treated by manipulating thin, solid needles that have been inserted into acupuncture points in the skin. According to Traditional Chinese medicine, stimulating these points can correct imbalances in the flow of ‘qi’ through channels known as ‘meridians’. All that needles sticking out of someone’s body, isn’t it fascinating. And the irony of it, all that pain to cure pain. Recently I watched on ‘Ripley’s believe it or not’, an alternative medical practitioner who uses darts shot from a distance as his own form of acupuncture methodology. Can you imagine the pain, from the darts, just to relieve pain, what an irony?
Let me not digress too far, you must have noticed that this poem is not about acupuncture, even thou it was stated at the end of the poem that we all need acupuncture. It is an allegorical poem; I guess you must have known that by now. I love playing with metaphors; it is not necessarily because I want to be obscure, or ambiguous. I guess it is just my style, it is what I enjoy doing, what I love doing.
Let me talk about another thing am fascinated with, which featured prominently on this poem although no specific mention was made of it. I am talking about airplanes, yes, but not jet airliners, no am talking about combat airplanes. Did you watch ‘Desert Storm’ on CNN, during the second ‘Gulf War’? That is what is called strafing, and I guess watching it gave me the inspiration to write this poem. But like I said earlier this is a metaphorical poem and it has nothing to do with combat aircrafts and war. Going back to ‘Desert Storm’, look at the Iraqis, they stood no chance. Infact the war ended a few hours after the strafing started.
That is how the earth stood no chance at the bombardment of misinformation that has left us with wrong values, as we cling tenaciously to nationalism, ethnicity, racism, materialism, hatred, violence, terrorism and all other vile acts abound on earth.
