127 Bewitching Book Tours review: Forrest Wollinsky: Vampire Hunter Vol. One by Leonard D. Hilley II

in late 19th century Bucharest, Forrest Wollinsky earns the ire of a master vampire. his dreams of a normal childhood is forever shattered when his destiny as a vampire Hunter is revealed.

from the opening pages, i had some difficulty accepting how an eight-year old boy could become a kick-ass Vampire Hunter. it would have been more convincing for me if our protagonist were perhaps twelve or in his early teens. however, as Forrest's story unraveled, i gradually, albeit "grudgingly" began to embrace this unusual fact. after a couple more chapters, i settled in and started liking the book.

i found Forrest's internal monologues engaging. i understood his dilemma better. it was not hard to sympathize with the boy hunter and the situation he found himself in at so young an age.

the action scenes were thrilling to read as were the creatures Forrest faced. his final encounter with the master Vampire was the book's highlight. there was a twist i did not see coming.

all in all and despite some niggles here and there, i still liked this first volume. if a second volume is forthcoming, there is one thing i wish to seethat Forrest Wollinsky has somehow turned older.
