Behind The Scenes [WRITING TAG]

Is there a certain snack you like to eat while writing?
Not going to lie, I'm seriously not picky. However, got to say a big cup of tea or coffee is a BIG must. And a packet of biscuits wouldn't go amiss (preferably the dunking kind). If only you could see my desk top right now, because despite my attempt at eating healthy it's covered with a loooooooot of chocolate.

When do you normally write?
I rarely write during the day, and for some reason the words flow a lot better in the middle of the night when I'm supposed to be sleeping like a normal person.

Where do you write?
In my bedroom on my MAC is pretty much my only option. Purely because I can't focus when people are around me and I feel under pressure if someone is watching.

How often do you write a new novel?
I'm actually drafting something at the moment. But gotta say, I'm mostly writing pieces of drabble to keep me going; which explains this blog and it's incredibly short word counts. I find as I get older, I'm getting much more harsher at critiquing my own work and the majority of it ends up in the recycling bin. Which is so crazy because when I was in my teens, I was forever uploading my finished novels (ha! If you could call them that) onto online message boards and archives. BTW, despite those stories being out there still, I'm hoping they will never resurface. 😳

Do you listen to music while you write?
Always. And what I listen to totally depends on what I'm writing. The Weeknd and The Chainsmokers are totally where I'm at right now.

What do you write on - laptop or paper?
Both. I do a rough copy or take notes in a notebook which I then keep beside me whilst I'm writing on my MAC. And just like Astrid Kaniele mentioned in her blog, writing in notebooks takes me back to when we were younger and used to pass one back and forth in McDonalds. I found, like, fifty of them under my bed and in my wardrobe a couple of months back (slight exaggeration).

Is there a special ritual before/after you write?
Besides a happy dance that I've completed something of decent length and thats worth reading? I drop a hint to Astrid Kaniele that I've uploaded because she'd have been nagging me everyday for a week to upload whatever is in drafting. Oops.

What do you do to get you in the mood to write?
Unless you're talking about procrastinating for a couple of hours on snapchat, facebook, twitter and instagram? Nothing. But like everyone else, my mood does greatly influence my writing. So, you can bet your bottom dollar that some break-up angst will be hitting my blog if I'm in a crap mood.

What is always near the place you write?
My phone (bad idea), notebook and pen, Bose headphones and my tortoise. Don't ask.

Do you have a reward system for you word count?
Word count? What word count? 😳
