SURVIVAL INSTINCT
Instinct #3
Janie Crouch
Releasing July 11, 2017

The voices in her head have decided to kill her.

Most people joke about hearing voices in their heads. For Chloe Jeffries, they’re real. And as the creative force behind one of the most popular shows on television, she has used the constant flood of voices in her mind to her advantage: fuel for entertainment.

But now one of the voices has decided it wants Chloe all for itself.

Ex-Special Forces soldier Shane Westman just wants to make it back to Wyoming to begin to heal from the horrors of war. The last thing he needs, even as a favor for a good friend, is to take on bodyguard duty of a flighty television writer. But once he does, he realizes there are threats at play he doesn’t understand. And the woman who has somehow begun to thaw his frozen heart is in desperate danger from a menace they can’t see, but is always close.

The voice that will never allow Chloe to escape alive.

REVIEW

A great romantic suspense read that can be devoured in one sitting!
Chloe hears voices in her head and most of the time she uses it to boost her creativity while working in the entertainment industry!
Shane is a tough as nails, ex soldier who has come back after a bad experience to try to heal.He has joined his friend Zac who owns a security company, and is to teach classes. But when Zac persuades him to take up the bodyguard duty for Chloe Jeffries and figure out who is threatening the people on set and moreover who do they intend to harm?

Both Chloe and Shane were tough, resilient and fierce characters! They've had to deal with a lot in their lives and have come this far.Though the attraction between Chloe and Shane was well done, I felt that it could have been allowed to develop a bit more.I really loved reading about Chloe's powers and how Shane affects them. The suspense also had me engrossed in the book, waiting to find out who was the culprit.Halffway in, I had narrowed down my guesses and was pretty sure I knew who the Conversation Hearts guy was.Glad to see I was right.

The author's writing is also beautiful with the way she sucks us in to the story.Though I haven't read any of the previous two books in the series,I'm now interested in reading more about the other two triplets and their powers!

EXCERPT

Chloe had put a week’s salary in the curse jar by the time she got off the phone with her studio a few hours later checking Shane Westman out.
Westman was completely trustworthy, competent, and thorough. The studio had run a background check on him as soon as Linear Tactical had said who they were sending. The man had a stellar military record and was well-respected by everyone in the known universe and their mothers.
As if Chloe couldn’t tell all of that by the perfect creases in his khakis.
She wasn’t worried about whether he could get the job done. Any idiot could see that he’d accomplish everything he put his mind to.
She was worried about her ability to get anything done while he was around.
She’d gotten more and more upset as the studio had asked her very logical questions: had Shane done something to offend her? Or make her think he was incompetent? To worry her or someone else?
It didn’t take long for her to realize that trying to explain to the logical studio executives that Shane Westman’s presence might hamper her creative force made her just sound like a nutcase.
And she was a nutcase. But she knew having that man around was going to change everything about everything. Chloe didn’t like change. She liked the chaos she’d built around her because it was hers, and she controlled it. Having Westman around threatened that.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want everyone safe—she did; of course she did—but couldn’t they find someone a little less…commanding? Forceful? Sexy? Damn it.
