Introduction to Guide to Learning 10 Key Skills to Thrive in 2020

Hopefully, by now, you have completed Month One of the Strategic Reading Challenge, and getting the hang of reading five books in the month. The reading challenge is structured, so that you can easily learn the 10 Key Skills needed for future jobs. To complement the books you read to learn the skills, I created a series of curated posts on each of the 10 skills to help you to learn and master the skills. Here is the second installment of Guide to Learning 10 Key Skills to Thrive in 2020 – Month Two.

Before you start Month Two of the Strategic Reading Challenge, make sure that you have all your five books handy. This way you know which books you intend to read, and you can read them one after another without scrambling to find a book to read. Before you buy any books, look at the unread books you have that meet the reading requirements for this month. This is a way to save money.

While Reading the Books for Month Two

Taking detailed notes is a critical part of the process to learning the 10 key skills needed for future jobs. Therefore, while reading each book, take notes. After you have finished reading each book, review your notes, then extract the five big ideas. After you have read all the five books, it’s time to connect all the ideas from the five books to create hybrid ideas.

I have created four handy guides, that will help you to get the most of of the books you read. One is on effective note taking, and another walks you through the process of selecting and combining ideas. The guides include information that is not on this blog.
