2018 Goals!

Tags: book love review

Hey, guys! I am super excited to talk about my goals for 2018. These will be slightly different than previous years, I believe, and a bit simpler because this year I am not trying to stress myself out about my goals. That just really takes the joy out of reading for me, and I do not like that. These aren’t just reading goals, though. I am going to be talking about my reading goals, yes, but also my blogging, vlogging and bookstagramming goals for 2018, so let’s go ahead and get into it!

Reading Goals:

I have set a goal of reading fifty books in 2018. Originally, I set my goal to 90 books, but I think that will actually stress me out, and I really don’t need that. I think that just takes the joy out of reading for me because all I am thinking about is reaching that number. I might at some point increase it, but right now fifty is the magic number. Its something I think I can achieve, and it will not stress me out. I just have too much going on right now to be stressing out about how many books I will be reading for the year. I have to worry about my classes, work, spending time with my best friend as well as my girlfriend and my family, so I really just do not need that added stress onto it, and I think it will just benefit me in the long run.

I also have a few books I would like to have read by the end of this year. Most of the time, this doesn’t happen, but I just wanted to mention it because these are actually books I need to read this year.

You will probably notice that all of these are either series finales or the second book in a series. This is totally because, for some reason, I just have this issue where I have so much anxiety about what the author will do to these characters that I just cannot read these. And let it be known that I have started every single one of these, but all of them except for Windwitch, I haven’t gotten very far into. I have read around half of Windwitch, and then I just stopped reading. I haven’t made it to page 100 in all the rest of them. I just need to freaking read these because I need to catch up on these series and finish them. It is just something that really needs to happen in 2018. I am so sick of these constantly being on my TBR, so I am resolving to finish them in 2018.

Blogging Goals:

I do not have very many blogging goals, but I do have a few. By the end of the year, I want to have written and posted 200 book reviews. I believe it was last year that I made it to 100, which was a huge goal of mine, so I want to do even more book reviews! I Love doing them and discussing books with you guys, so I am hoping to continue to do as many as possible. Though I will admit that I don’t review every single book I read anymore. If I don’t have very many thoughts on a book, I won’t review it. I will just talk about it in my monthly wrap up.

I also want to make some original book tags. I have only made one original tag, and I had a lot of fun doing it, so I would love to do that again. I love doing book tags, so I think it would just be a lot of fun, plus it would give me the opportunity to help with my final blogging goal. I want to make more blogger friends. I don’t really have any that I talk to all of the time, which upsets me a lot, but I have made a couple on here, like Madeline @ The SFF Bookshelf (she also has a writing blog, which I will link here) and Rachel @ Life of a Female Bibliophile. Both of these ladies are absolutely amazing, so I recommend you check out their blogs, but I do want to make more blogger friends!

Vlogging Goals:

I have many vlogging goals, so stick with me here. This is going to be a long section. First of all, I want to just improve in general. I want to improve the quality of my videos. I want to buy an actual good camera, a good light for filming, a good microphone, and eventually good writing software. I just got a job, so I am going to be saving some of my paycheck to help me with this. Currently, the camera I have my eyes on is the Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR camera. It is a great camera with video making capabilities, and I can also use it to take Bookstagram photos, which I am excited about. The one I am looking at comes with just about everything I would need to film. It has a couple of memory cards, a tripod and a bunch of other lenses and kits so it would be really great for me.

I want to make original content. I don’t do original tags or anything on there right now, so I want to do that. Along with this, I want to make book reviews. I have never filmed a book review because I just don’t know how to do it very well. I am so terrified to do it. I have gotten really good at doing book reviews on here because I am not talking to a camera. I am simply typing out my thoughts. But the idea of me getting something wrong and possibly just screwing it up has given me so much anxiety that I haven’t been able to film one. I know its something I can only improve on if I actually just do it. I just want to post at least one book review. I want to get myself to do that.

I also just want to reach one hundred followers by the end of the year. I know subscriber count doesn’t really mean anything, but I want to be able to reach people who have similar reading tastes to mine and who just really love books and reading. I want to reach a wider audience and impact people with the content I am producing. I just want to share my love of reading with the Booktube community. I don’t even have thirty subscribers right now, so I am hoping I can do this so I can reach more people.

My final vlogging goal is that I want to start making some Booktube friends. I am currently not friends with any Booktubers, and I know everyone says that it is the best part about it, so I want to do that. I want to connect with people and become friends with them. I think that it would only make the experience better, and I just really want to talk to people about our mutual love for books.

Bookstagram Goals:

This isn’t even something I thought I was going to make, but I think I do need to say some things about my 2018 goals in relation to my Bookstagram. I just want to preface this by saying that I love Bookstagramming. I have had my Bookstagram for a couple of years now, and I just love it. I love talking to people about books and showing off my books, and I just love connecting with readers from around the world! I have improved so much over the past couple of years, but I want to do even better. I want to buy props for my photos and improve the quality of them. I also want to eventually develop a theme for it because I currently do not have one. I just want to be able to make better photos.

And there you have it! Those were all of my goals for 2018. What is one of your reading goals for this year? Comment down below! I would love to know, and that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!
