Favorite TV Shows | 2017 Edition

Hey, guys! I cannot believe that 2017 is practically over, but as per usual, I have to break down my favorite TV shows that I have watched this year, and some of these may surprise you. I think most people wouldn’t expect me to be into a couple of the shows on this list, but I do Love each of these shows very dearly. They are just absolutely fabulous, and I really want to gush about them, so let’s go ahead and jump right in!

Coming in at number ten on my list is Orange is the New Black.

This is a Netflix Original show that I really love, but if you are a young person, you definitely should not watch it. It is an adult show with adult content. There are explicit lesbian sex scenes in this show, and they are not afraid to show everything, so if you are not 18 or older, do not watch this show. However, if you are a part of the adult world, I think this show is absolutely fabulous. It is just so addicting. It’s so gritty and real, and I just love the characters and the relationships between all of them because this is definitely a Character-driven show. The characters are what make the show so interesting, and I just love it so much. But if lesbian sex makes you uncomfortable, you probably shouldn’t watch this show. If there is one thing this show has a lot of, its lesbian sex. And its explicit. I honestly think you can’t just skip through the sex scenes because there is at least one in every single episode, and you would honestly be skipping through a lot of the show. I mean, is it really Orange Is the New Black if there isn’t at least one sex scene per episode?

The next TV show on this list is Thirteen Reasons Why.

This is definitely a more controversial one on this list because this show definitely has had some backlash. I think it definitely has some issues, but I really enjoyed it overall. This is a Netflix Original show based on the novel by Jay Asher, and I think it is a really great adaptation. Where that book is kind of short, this show definitely dives more deeply into the overall story and all of the characters. It really helped them to become super complex and three-dimensional. I loved how it tackled some difficult topics like suicide and sexual assault among others, but I do recognize that this show has harmed others in that it doesn’t address the problem of depression more head-on that is present in the story, and it has raced concerns about it glorifying suicide, which I don’t agree with, but since some felt that way, I felt I should mention. But I did really love the story and see it come to life on the screen, and I think it is still a well-rounded show that I really enjoyed.

Coming in at number six on my list is Riverdale.

This is a show that I never planned on watching. It’s on the CW, and the entire first season is on Netflix, so I binged the first season, and I absolutely loved it! I honestly wasn’t expecting much. I didn’t know anything about it, but I knew that everyone was raving about it, so I figured the least I could do was see what all the hype was about, and oh man. This show is absolutely fanfreakingtastic. I love it so much. Its such a dark show, but its also so addicting, and I just love it so much. The characters are amazing, its got a super interesting story line, and it just keeps going to places you don’t expect it to go. Its just my favorite, and I love it so much!

Up next on my favorites list is The Runaways.

This is a Hulu Original show based on the comics by Brian K. Vaughan, and this is actually super recent. This show was released on Hulu on November 21, and it premieres on a weekly basis. It’s just absolutely fabulous. It has a super addicting storyline, interesting characters, and it’s just so good. Like every episode has me going, “What the hell just happened?” It is just so epic, so well casted and directed and written, and I just love it so much, and I highly recommend you check it out!

Next up on my list is The Gifted.

This is a show on FX, and it is a spin-off of the X-Men franchise and its freaking fantastic. This show is just so epic. The special effects are super freaking amazing. They are like movie special effects, and they just make the show look so great! But the characters are super complex and interesting, as X-Men character tend to be, and I really love the storyline. I obviously also love the world because I am a huge fan of X-Men, and I just think it is super interesting, has a great cast, the writing is on point, and it is just a really well-rounded show. If you love X-Men, then I definitely think you will like this show because it is just absolutely fantastic!

Coming in at number three on my list is Blindspot.

This is a show on NBC, and it is so freaking epic. This is a show that I had been considering watching for a while, but I ended up just going ahead and watching it because all the episodes were on Hulu, and I quickly became super obsessed with this show. The characters are super interesting, and I am super invested in them as well as with the addicting storyline. I am not really going to say much on that front because saying anything would be a spoiler, and you should go into this show knowing nothing, but the show is centered around this girl who wakes up with no memories, her entire body covered in tattoos, and those tattoos help the FBI solve criminal cases, and its just so interesting. I love it so much, and I highly recommend you all check it out because it is just so fantastic!

My second favorite television show is Stranger Things.

This is a Netflix Original show that everyone, and I mean literally everyone, is completely and utterly obsessed with. This is super hyped, but it totally deserves the hype. It’s just so freaking amazing that it is kind of hard to put it into words. The cast is absolutely amazing, the writing is spectacular, the special effects are out of this world, the storyline is just super complex and intricate, and the characters are my everything. It is just an absolutely amazing show that I love so much. It actually changed my mind about this one character I did not like first season who turned into one of my favorites in the second season. These characters just really grow and develop over the course of the show, and it is absolutely amazing to see. I highly recommend you all check this one out because it is absolutely amazing!

And finally, my number one favorite TV show that I watched in 2017 is The Vampire Diaries.

Is anyone really surprised? Truth be told, I debated on whether I should put this in my number one spot or move it farther down on the list, but I ultimately decided to make this my number one favorite show of 2017 (and while we are at it, it is my favorite show of all time). I just had to put this in my number one spot because the final season aired in 2017, and I reviewed the series finale. This show has been my life since I was eleven years old, and I was so emotional while watching the final season, especially the final episode ever. I just have so much love in my heart for this show and these characters, and I just still love it so much, and I always will. The show may no longer be airing, but it is and always will be in my heart.

And there you have it! Those were my favorite TV shows of 2017. What is one of your favorite shows you watched this year? Comment down below! I would love to know. And that is going to be it for this post today. Thank you all so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed it, and I will see you next time!
