An Addition to My Skincare Regimen

I’m not one who enjoys browsing and trying new beauty products. I stick to a regular Skincare Regimen, using products until they fail or are discontinued. That way I can forget about skincare products, keeping that part of my life uncomplicated.

That said, every once in a while I introduce something new to my skincare regimen. A few weeks ago, at a wonderful birthday facial, I discovered Caudalie’s Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil. I’ve been using Caudalie’s products for about a year, and was delighted to hear that the Essential Oil that the aesthetician used in the facial was from Caudalie too. The idea is that you apply moisture — like an essential oil — to your skin first so that moisturizers and sunscreen are more effectively absorbed afterwards. A moist sponge is more absorbent than a dry one — and the same applies to your skin.

I apply six drops to my face and neck in the morning and at night, and can feel and see the difference already. My skin looks “shiny like an apple”, and feels supple and nourished throughout the day. I have dry and sensitive skin, so use the product twice a day (once a day is good for regular skin.) The aesthetician, who has oily skin, also uses the product. It sounds counter intuitive, but apparently the right essential oils work wonders on an oily skin too.

On advice from my dermatologist several years ago, I need to use extremely gentle products for my sensitive skin. He was dead right, so absolutely no Retin-A, Retinol or alpha hydroxy acids for me. Like all their products, Caudalie’s essential oil is wonderfully gentle and ever so slightly scented. A little goes a long way, and I’m thrilled with the addition to my skincare routine.

Do you use essential oils for your skin? Have you found that you use them in very humid weather too?
