Depression can strike individuals at any age and sufferers from this debilitating illness come from all walks of life.
According to Google, 300 million people worldwide suffer from depression.
For some, they will only suffer one major depressive episode in their lifetime. For others, it never goes away and they are plagued by a never-ending cycle of fatigue, low self-esteem, and feelings of hopelessness.
One young man who openly suffers from depression believes that he wouldn’t be alive if Music wasn’t a part of his life.
If music feeds the soul, then let it heal the troubled mind.
Leeds-based Rock/Alternative multi-instrumentalist, Aiden Hatfield, has been in bands since the age of 13. Most recently with utoXator, a melodic punk 4-piece from Leeds.
Now he is going solo and his long-awaited, debut solo EP CHAPTER ONE, will come out on 15th March 2019. The good news is that the EP’s leading track, This is Never Ending, is released today. Aiden has not only written all five tracks on the EP, but recorded each individual track himself, guitar, drums, and bass. The EP has been mixed and mastered by Kieran Smith.
There is absolutely no way I could put into words how much music means to me. Today, I wrote a new song… and I feel so blessed that I have this amazing thing called music in my life I wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for its amazing existence
Aiden Hatfield – 20th December 2018
This is Never Ending chronicles the battles a paranoid mind can face, about convincing yourself that someone is better off without you, even when all they’ve done is try to convince you otherwise.
Aiden has dedicated the last four years creating a successful brand, www.inmusicwetrust.co.uk, that donates 50% of profits to the Mind.org charity.
After interviews on the BBC about with how prevalent the subject has become in the music industry, the brand is thriving and continues to help people every day.
Aiden‘s music touches on these subjects and he hopes that through his music he can continue to do so.
‘Aiden holds a live stream every Monday evening at 8pm to connect with his audience, answering questions about mental health, music and everything in between. The guitarist signs off by performing one of his original songs. Many people now contact Aiden via social media to tell him they are struggling with their mental health. He is often the first person people confide in, which he sees as a real privilege.’
Aiden Hatfield, first and foremost, is a talented musician, whose music has helped him deal with his own depression. Now he is helping others to combat their never-ending battle.

This is Never Ending© Lyrics and Music – Aiden HatfieldDid you ever give a damn about the songs on the radioThe ones we sang togetherWe’ve heard them all a thousand timesYou would tell me mine were betterThe words that I write are not the words that you readDesperation and pain build up inside of meNow the hour is late and I don’t mean to be meanI must gather my things, it’s time for me to leaveThis is never ending, we are both descending to the floorCrippled and depending on each otherFending through our own personal warDid you ever give up time for all the wasted hoursThe ones we spent togetherDid you feel that I was worth the same as yourForgotten timeA reason to lie is not a reason to bleedDesperation and pain build up inside of meThe silence won’t make it right and I don’t mean to be meanI must gather my thoughts it’s time for me to leave
