Dermacol Make-Up Cover Foundation | Review & Swatches

It seems like every makeup junkie, especially those, who have problematic skin are always on a hunt for a perfect makeup Foundation. We want it to be lightweight and seamless, like a second skin, long-lasting and waterproof, so we don't need to worry about our makeup throughout the day and, of course, taking a good care of our skin. Today we are going to talk about one of the most full-coverage foundation on the makeup market - Dermacol Make-Up Cover Foundation by a Prague based cosmetic company, first started in the Barrandov Film Studios.

Let's start with the packaging. Dermacol makeup foundation comes in soft aluminium tube, that somehow reminds me of gouache paint. Frankly, I'm not the biggest fan of this packaging, because it gets easily deformed and stops satisfying my aesthetic needs. Nevertheless, you are going to receive an booklet with step by step instructions in nine different languages, including English, isn't it amazing!

The formula of Dermacol foundation is truly impressive. It is waterproof, hypoallergenic, long-lasting and even has an SPF 30 - everything a good foundation needs to be. The very first in the list and major ingredient in the compound of this foundation titanium dioxide - a white pigment, commonly used in food and beauty industry. This ingredient explains, why Dermacol is so incredibly pigmented and thick. The next ingredient is paraffinum liquidum - a base, that helps to hold all the ingredients together, making the foundation durable and thick.

As I mentioned earlier, Dermacol foundation has a very thick texture, it is hard to reach beautiful seamless blending and natural finish, but the coverage is as full as it can be. It reminds me a little bit of a grease paint, that is usually used for body art. Once applied on the skin, it totally covers imperfections, but looks cakey and unnatural. I was expecting it to crease and emphasize fine lines under the eyes, but it worked surprisingly good.

How to use Dermacol foundation? I strongly recommend you to start with a basic skin care routine, that includes gently exfoliator and a very lightweight daily facial moisturizer. Without this two crucial steps your foundation might look heavy on the skin. The foundation is thick and pigmented, but has a buildable formula, so it is better to start with a smaller amount of the product. Apply the foundation and start blending it with a blending brush or beauty blender. Don't forget to set Dermacol with setting or translucent powder or your skin is going to look shiny.

Summarizing this review, Dermacol makeup foundation is definitely worth our attention. I don't think it is an everyday product, because it feels really heavy on the skin and doesn't look very natural. Because of it's greasy formula, Dermacol needs to be set with a right amount of powder, and this step makes it look even heavier. If you have severe acne, scars or blemishes on the skin Dermacol will definitely cover them all, but won't make your skin healthier.

Have you tried Dermacol makeup foundation? What is your favorite full coverage foundation?

Lots of love,
Liz
