ahhh vacation!! a few weeks ago Austin had to travel to Sea Island for some work biz things. and so we thought it might be fun to make a long weekend out of it, especially since i've never been before. and ding ding!! great idea it was. we first got to explore St. Simmons which is an adorable laid back beachy town on the GA coast. my grandparents actually lived there about thirty years ago! which made their trips to Jacksonville to visit the new baby that was me really easy! it was fun to picture my nana riding her bike on those very streets. there is this beautiful lighthouse that we actually toured and climbed to the very top which scared us both, but maybe austin a little bit more ;) and also fixed in some seafood, farmers markets and looots of tonic and limes for moi.

the next day we headed to Sea Island which was a real, real treat! we got to stay at the Cloister which is just pretty magnificent. i have never been to a hotel like this and oh was it fancy. but no complaints ;) every last detail of the resort right was just wonderful. after checking into the mooost amazing room, we got to explore the pool and beach! ahh beach! i have missed you. later that day austin had to attend said work event which left me on my own to do whatever i pleased. so a long bath and lounging in a big comfy robe and emerald slippers it was. and a lot of book reading! the book club i'm in recently chose 'behind closed doors' to read this month and oh my gosh....!!! i could not stop reading. in fact, twenty-four hours later and i was finished. because it really just seeped into my mind [and nightmares]. it was certainly disturbing but i mean very intriguing at the same time. i definitely, definitely recommend!! later that evening baby girl and i took a stroll as the sun was setting and really just took in the beautiful peacefulness that is Sea Island and the most impressive everything that is the Cloister. we ended the night with some good ole fashioned room service! ha. hotel life, it's not too bad! the next day i was pretty much on my own so it was room service it was again! [$15 frosted flakes, great! what a deal! it's not as fun when you can't expense it, you know?!] and a long day of pooling in the not a cloud in the sky sunshine before we headed back to the land of reality late that evening. [but also making sure to mix in lots of sunscreen, collecting of all the seashells,  grilled cheese and  ice cream].

and hey! while there, i was able to see my dad for a little bit! he happened to be flying in for an event  austin's company was hosting, but unfortunately their time didn't overlap! so i got to spend a little bit of time with him hanging out in his equally as fancy hotel room, which!!! was right next to the one we had checked out of earlier that day! rooms 52 & 53! what do you know? anyways, it was a really great trip and we plan to get back their one of these days with baby girl in tow!
