Around the House

I took a lot of photos for the magazine and wanted to share some of them here. I’ll also be doing a dedicated post about Fira’s stall/living situation next week. I receive several requests about it, so it’s time to finally do the backyard tour.

My house is filled with a lot of DIY projects including my serape shower curtain and painted steer skull.

I upgraded our old kitchen floor with peel and stick vinyl tile.

The kitchen offers a view into the backyard, where Fira resides. She often hangs out at the front of her stall and stares into the kitchen whenever she thinks it’s time for a meal – often an hour before feeding time. She will knicker at you when you get a glass of water or sees you walk by.

Having Fira at home is wonderful. I get to spend time with her on my lunch breaks, enjoy afternoon rides, and just hang out with her in the yard. Since she doesn’t get a normal pasture life, keeping her mind and schedule busy is important. Sometimes I take her to turnout and bring a book or something to work on so she gets plenty of time out, along with daily rides.
