Two emerging technologies that will shape the future

Two emerging technologies that will shape the future

Artificial Intelligence, you must have had heard of it, it is critically acclaimed these days, it is all over the place.

Everything is being governed by it, A.I more or less is acting as an underlying technology. Recently we came to know that Google Adsense has anchored A.I Technology and hence we are now having Google Adsense Auto Ads.

However, the two technologies that I will be discussing in this post are Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, it's already here and with time it will only grow powerful.

Augmented reality (AR) is a direct or indirect live view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are "augmented" by computer-generated perceptual information, ideally across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory, and olfactory.

In a nutshell what AR essentially does is that it reveals the reality with some added graphic details, which are likely to influence and enhance our perception comprehensively.

What it does is that it captures our attention because we are overwhelmed by what we see. A classic example of AR Technology would be what Snapchat and Pokemon Go has been doing. You certainly must have come across puppy filter photos, it's annoying I know (no offense) but that's what the work of Augmented Reality is.

The most recent marvel of Augmented reality is iPhone X Augmented Reality, it's all over the place.

iPhone X has dramatically enhanced the capabilities of its camera by anchoring Augmented Reality. Augmented Reality is also being leveraged for marketing and promotion purposes, for example, superhero movies before it's release we will find it's filtering on Facebook and Snapchat.

Why are these technologies thriving?

Human attention span is decreasing at an alarming rate that's where technologies like Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality comes into play. Last I checked human attention span had decreased to 5 seconds. Very few people are reading these days, we are succumbing to the audio-visual content or anything that would allure us. which would be AR.

Now for those who have watched or are binge-watching Netflix's Altered Carbon, it's a sci-fi series set in a distant future where everything is simplified via AR and VR.

Right now what is a photo filter will tomorrow be a serious lucrative proposition, in fact, it's already being used by certain automobile industries, where they are using Augmented Reality glasses to see through the layers, which otherwise would require one to dissect the whole thing.

Just imagine how much time are Augmented reality glasses are saving.

For an instance just imagine that you are supposed to fix a machine so your first step will be identifying the problem like there can a fragile part of the machine that must have been broken. Manually it will consume a lot of time in dismantling the whole machine just to find out the problem, but with AR it will display from the exterior the missing puzzle, pretty much like Iron-Man, I know it sounds far-fetched sci-fi reality but it's already happening and with

Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence this technology will evolve in no time.

This technology is quite likely to play a crucial role in the medical industry, for example, while performing surgery, Augmented Reality will emphasize every fraction of data in a cognitive fashion.

Virtual reality (VR) is a computer-generated scenario that simulates a realistic experience. The immersive environment can be similar to the real world in order to create a lifelike experience grounded in reality or sci-fi. We have already encountered VR dozens of time, it has radically changed our perspective of media.

Essentially VR immerses you in its own digital world, where there are no limits. It allows us to escape the reality that we are living in to embrace the reality that VR tool is offering.

Audio-visual content that is thriving like anything which might soon become obsolete with the advent of Virtual reality, it's application has been seen in gaming and entertainment media.

A classic example in VR Gaming would be Escape Room, and it's mindboggling you actually get to experience a vivid animated lifelike reality and find your way out in order to accomplish challenges. Plus marketers are also leveraging this technology to influence buyers behavior, imagine that you want to take vacation to an exotic place surrounded by nature, so you would stumble upon the resort's website that would display information about that place and accommodation and to enhance your likelihood of booking reservation what they would do is that they would add a 360 degree virtual tour of the resort, after having been exposed to that tour you will be more likely to make the reservation, it's already happening.

However, in the future, Virtual Reality can be used as a simulation training program which will prepare us to face the situation in real life. It can be used to treat mental illnesses and phobias by creating artificial scenarios where you get to trial and error opportunity.

Technology is making us dumber day by day and yet making life convenient. And the ironic thing is the fact that monks are convincing us that reality as we know it is itself an illusion and here we are creating more sophisticated realities instead of finding our way out of this illusionary reality.

If technology keeps going at this pace then pretty soon we might forget the indistinguishable power that resides within us which can be tapped through mindfulness, because that's how tech savvy we are becoming day by day.
