How I Make Over $10,000 Per Month Blogging

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure for more information.

In this post, we’ll go over how I make over $10,000 per month Blogging. Just a couple of years ago, I started my Money making blogging journey and I was totally unaware of what it would really take to make it as a successful blogger. I left a comfortable job to start an uncomfortable journey as a blogger.  The ride has been fun!  Through the ups and downs, the nights I cried myself to sleep and the days I spent being my own biggest cheerleader, I made my dreams come true. Finally, I feel I am somewhere in my journey where everything is starting to fall in place.

How I Make Over 10000 Per Month Blogging

When I first began my blog, I made $0. Over time, my blog grew, slowly and steadily. Now I am at a point where I can help other bloggers avoid the mistakes I made and start a blog off the right way, the first time.

If you’re a brand new blogger or would like some insight, I suggest you check out my free course on blogging. I go over my exact steps I did to go from earning $0 to over $10,000 every month as a blogger.  You can sign up for my free course here.

If you have a goal of earning $10,000 per month blogging, my advice to you is to keep going. Don’t give up and don’t ever stop.  You’re unstoppable and your dreams can come true. I’m living proof of this. So without further ado, let’s get into my strategy for how I earned over $10,000 per month blogging for April 2018.

Blogging

Blogging has allowed me to live my dreams to the fullest. It allows me to live life on my terms but also to be in control of my schedule. I work when I want and I enjoy traveling and spending time doing what I love. Blogging to me is the best thing I could have ever done career wise and I’m glad I decided to start my blog.

Recently I started writing longer blog posts. When I first started blogging, my blog posts were a bit short. Between 500-800 words.  More recently, I started writing lengthier posts that are between 1500 – 5000 words depending on the topic I’m covering. I found that this allowed me to also work on adding related posts and content into each blog post, as well as provide more value to you, my reader.

Paid Advertisements

I also started working with paid advertisements on my website. This helped with my income as well. For the past two years, I didn’t have any paid ads on my site. Now I’m seeing what an increase in income they can provide for me as a blogger.

If you’re a brand new blogger or maybe you’ve had a blog for awhile, I suggest you add paid ads to your site.  It’s a way to grow your income without doing anything.  After you sign up for ad placements, that’s it.  I use Media.net but there are other companies to choose from as well, such as Mediavine (for bloggers who have over 100,000 monthly views), Ad Thrive, Google Adsense and many others.

If you are interested and serious about starting a blog, I created a tutorial that will help you start a blog for cheap, starting at only $3.95 per month (this low price is only through my link) for hosting your blog. In addition to the low price, you will receive a free website domain through my Bluehost link if you purchase at least 12 months of hosting. By the way, if you’re asking yourself “can I really do this – make money blogging?” – my answer is yes, you can do it!!  Having a self-hosted blog is essential if you want to monetize your blog as you’ll appear as an expert in your field and more professional. My blogging income skyrocketed once I switched to being self-hosted on WordPress.

Affiliate Marketing

I took a deeper dive into affiliate marketing and I have been focusing mainly on a handful of companies I work with rather than having too many. Now, I only work with companies that have larger payouts for referrals rather than working with a company that will pay me $5 for the same amount of work. My favorite of them all is Bluehost. I use Bluehost for my own WordPress site and I love the service they provide. Not only do I use their products, I also work with them as an affiliate.

If you’re looking to start a blog, I suggest you sign up through Bluehost as they offer a free WordPress website when you buy hosting through them.

My Email List

I began to focus more on growing my Email list which has allowed me to gain new subscribers and reach new people who are interested in what I have to say. I love helping people and I find that growing my list has also allowed me to increase my income. If you haven’t started an email list for your blog, I suggest you take my free course on growing an email list from scratch.  I show you step-by-step on how to get your very first subscribers and how to earn money through your list. You can sign up here for the free course.

When I first started blogging, I had no idea of what an email list was or why I should have one. Soon afterwards, I realized how important it was to have a list and I begin to start growing my list right away.  This has helped me in growing my blogging income and having a list is a must-have for any blogger who wants to earn money online.

If you’re a blogger, here’s why you should have an email list:

  1. Your email list is 100% yours. Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest change their policies and algorithms all the time. Who’s to say that one day they change the rules that aren’t in favor of you anymore? These are huge corporations that are all about money.  If you’re a blogger, building your empire should be a main focus.  That means building your list.

With your own email list, you’re growing your own tribe of people who are influenced by you. Facebook and friends won’t be able to take them away. So start building your list. Here is a link to my free course on building an email list from scratch.

2. Your money is in your list. Ever heard that saying, “the money is in the list”? When I first heard it, it didn’t ring a bell. Now I swear by it.  Your money is in your list. Your loyal fans, your followers, your subscribers are all in your email list. Growing your list is equal to growing your money and your reach.

3. You can deliver great content. With Convertkit, you can create awesome content to send out to your email list.  You can create templates, free courses, giveaways or anything you’d like to send to your list. I highly recommend Convertkit as I can schedule when I want to send out content to my list and also create content that will automatically be sent out with the click of a button.

My Income Stats

This is my first time posting my income stats online. I am usually private when it comes to earning money online but I also wanted to be transparent to help other bloggers know that earning this kind of money (and more) is totally possible with blogging. The only thing stopping you from earning the money you want to earn is you. If you want to earn money from your blog and quit your day job, come up with an exit strategy and take action towards your goals.

Earning over $10,000 from my blog didn’t happen overnight and it took me time to grow my blog from $0 to where it is today. Don’t compare my middle to your beginning or anyone else’s for that matter. Every blogger’s journey is different. The best part is, it’s never too late to start a money making blog.  You can always begin your journey today to live the life you want to live.  It’s possible!

Affiliate Income: $10,795.00 (various affiliates)

Bluehost (take a look at my tutorial on how to start a blog) – $8,995.40

ConvertKit – $594.00

Surveys – $1205.60

Display Advertisements: $537.91

Total blogging income: $11,332.91

This number does not reflect any other income I earn through other sources not related to my blog.

The majority of my income comes from affiliate marketing. I learned affiliate marketing through trial and error and have a pretty good grasp of it now. By being consistent and mastering one thing at a time, I’ve been able to grow my affiliate income.  When I first started using affiliate marketing, I earned $195.00.  Though it wasn’t a lot of money, I was super excited. I was happy because it worked for me and I received my first commission check. From there, I knew I could grow my affiliate income and it has grown steadily ever since.

So What’s Next?

I want to continue to focus on growing my email list. I recently deleted over 2,000 subscribers from my email list.  You’re probably thinking I’m crazy but it was for a good reason. Having a huge email list means absolutely nothing if no one on your list is engaged in your content. When I first started my email list, I wasn’t consistent and this was something on my part that I shouldn’t have done. I’ve since learned from this mistake and send emails on a consistent basis with my list. Though I’ve deleted 2,000 subscribers, my engagement with my audience has increased and so has my income. I also have a higher open rate which is amazing compared to what it was before.

So my goal is to get super tight on continual growth of my list and to stay consistent with everything like I have been.

I want to travel more. I recently moved to California and I’ve been grounded by focusing on my blog for the past six months.  I’ve explored the area and nearby cities but I want to explore other places, too. My goal for the summer is to go somewhere for a week and work on my blog and explore the area wherever I decide to go. I’m thinking of checking out Lava Beds National Monument which seems super cool. What do you think?

I also want to create a better work-life balance. Right now, I can work from the early hours of the morning until late at night. I won’t stop unless I get the sudden urge that I need to eat food, lol :). I want to learn to add a cutoff time to my schedule so I can spend more time doing other activities outside of work.

My laptop has recently become my phone.  It’s glued to my arm and goes everywhere with me.  So does my notebook.  So my goal is to create a schedule (and stick to it) so that I can cutoff working and unwind and relax more. It’s just that this never feels like working to me so it’s hard to shut it off.  I’m working on it though 🙂

So, all in all, life is wonderful, the blog is steadily growing and I am constantly learning new and exciting things. No matter how far along in my path I am, I am forever a student. So, tell me your goals in the comments below. What’s your income goal for your blog in the next 3 months?
