A Makurdi High Court, directed by Justice Theresa Igoche, has conceded leave to the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom to serve the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and the APC with his writ of summons in Suit No. MHC/280/2018.

Once presented with the writ of summons, the litigants have 30 days to enter an appearance and a defence. Ortom had, in addition to other things, asserted that the respondents killed his character and injured his personality when he, Oshiomhole blamed him for taking part in the murder of two Catholic ministers and their parishioners at Mbalom on the ground that one of the clerics had given an 'exceptional sermon' against Governor Ortom. The governor requested the sum of N10 billion as harms for the Plaintiff and against the litigants mutually and severally for the slander and libel of the Plaintiff's character and notoriety by the Defendants. Be that as it may, the representative of the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Simon Ibegbulem, said that the administrator would meet Ortom in court. “We will meet him in court. In fact, that is where he is going to be disgraced the more. We will confront him with all the evidence that some people involved in the killing of the reverend fathers are indeed those associated with him,” he said.
