Zoo

Hello all,

And now for another Animal themed book for you all only this Zoo is very different to Our Zoo – in this book, the Zoo is the world, where the animals are predators and humans are the prey.

“If there is an indication this morning of something being amiss, it is not in what the lions are doing, but in what they aren’t.”

Meet Jackson Oz, or just plain Oz. Oz is a biologist without a doctorate. For many years he has believed in a theory known as HAC (human-animal conflict), and has warned people countless times of it but to no avail.

Well unless that avail is to be laughed out the room…

“…a massive but invisible change in the environment that animals could sense but we could not.”

But when his friend from South Africa reports strange behaviour in the Lion prides, Oz knows this is his only chance to prove that he is right.

“The way those lions had come after us, it was if it were personal.”

Unbeknownst to him, the same is happening at home – to dogs, rats and even his own pet Chimpanzee. Every animal is a potential threat and we are all in danger.

“Biological life was falling. Animal life itself. Something very, very weird and very, very bad was happening and I was the only voice shouting in the wilderness about it.”

All over the world, a global meltdown is occurring and animals are waging war on human kind. Attacks which are causing the deaths of many people.

“Animal behaviour is changing radically and alarmingly, and people are dying. I can prove it.”

The world has become a Zoo but not like we know it. This is a zoo without cages.

But why is this happening? What is the cause? How do we stop it?

“The Bad Smell is people.”

In the end Oz must fight not only against the government and the military but also the rest of the world as he tries to convince them of the danger they’re in.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world…”

Think War of the Planet of the Apes just instead of apes it’s all animals and you’ve given yourself an idea about this book. When I read reviews for this book I was disappointed before reading it. I was hooked on the tv series and it wasn’t until recently that I discovered it was a book with a second released recently (keep an eye out for Zoo 2 in the reviews!).

I hope you’ll all find this one of the few reviews that absolutely loved this book! I give it for sure and would highly recommend it! I was hooked from the start and couldn’t put it down! A definite page turner!

What I find most intriguing and most realistic are two things:

1) the main cause of what caused the animals to turn against their humans (I won’t spoil it) but it’s certainly relatable now and something to consider

2) the fight against the government. When they finally listen and do as they’re told, Oz is relieved, they may stand a fighting chance at winning this war! When the government sees that actually its working, within a day or two everything reverts back to normal for them and well you can guess what happens to the animals…

I would highly recommend this book!

Bravo James Patterson, Bravo!
