Night Star – The Immortals 5

“When it is darkest, men see the stars.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

And so we near the end of our immortals journey… but the drama is really heating up!

Haven is on a mission…KILL EVER AND Jude. Why? For the death of Roman. Drunk on power and addicted to elixir, Haven is becoming more dangerous by the day; a storm of chaos and destruction.

“… you can tell a lot about a person from how they handle times of great stress…true character is revealed by the way people react to the bigger challenges in life…And while I definitely agree with that, I also think the same can be said of how people handle power.”

Ever also has a mission…kill or be killed. Something she never would have considered…until now. There is no escape this time.

Jude, well he’d much rather stay out of it. He doesn’t want to be involved but whether he likes it or not, ever since he accidentally killed Roman and suspended him in Shadowland, Haven won’t let him have a choice. And it’s up to Ever to train him and prepare him for what’s to come.

“Knowing that wishes don’t always come about in the way that we think, but if you believe and keep your mind open, there’s a really good chance they will manifest in some way.”

There’s a storm brewing..

No matter how hard Ever tries to reason with Haven, to convince her it was only an accident, there is no changing her mind. And it’s not just Ever and Jude that are in her crossfire’s…Damen is now caught up in it too.

As manipulative as Haven is, Ever (nor Damen) could have ever imagined what Haven had planned. A secret from Damen’s past…a secret that reveals more about her relationship with Jude yet so dark that it may drive her and Damen apart for good.

“Six hundred years is an awfully long time, Ever. So long it’s impossible for either of us to imagine. Though it is more than enough time to rack up a few dirty skeletons for the old metaphorical closet, right?”

The antidote still plays a key part…Haven may yet hold the answer. Roman’s shirt…the antidote spilled onto it…could it be so impossible as to think this could solve all Ever and Damen’s problems?

“Deep down inside, my heart knew the score.

And I know that Haven was wrong.

It’s not always a case of one loving more than the other.

When two people are truly meant to be, they love equally.

Differently – but still equal.”

And in the mysterious Summerland, the happy and bright place…lurks a darker newly developing and growing area of muddy, murky land. With an aged lady, two of Havens minions and a warning..for Ever. But what could it all mean?

This book, sequel to Dark Flame definitely picked up the pace of the series more, we see Ever and Damen fight…fight for what’s right, fight for the truth, fight for survival – against old friends and new enemies and find a way to trust one another.

“…and they got there in an instant. So basically, whenever you’re looking for a solution, you are feeling positive emotion—and whenever you’re looking at a problem, you’re feeling negative emotion, which, as you know, never gets us anywhere. But once you take the focus off yourself and your wants, and instead turn it toward how getting what you want might also benefit someone else, well then, you can’t help but succeed,” she says, voice soft and sweet. “That’s the key behind any success.”

Whilst Ever must deal with the fact that is, Jude or Damen? Encounters in past lives, what does it all mean? Could Jude be the one after all? Or is Damen still the person she fell in love with?

“…The One.

Always has been.

Always will be.”

All will be revealed in the penultimate book of The Immortals series.
