Who are my favorite photographers?

After the last inspiration session, my interest in photography suddenly increased and I started thinking about the photographers I personally like and follow. To be honest, they are not many, but I do have extreme respect towards two particular artists and I decided writing a follow-up blog on the topic of photography and telling you about my favorite artists in the area might be interesting, inspiring, and possibly give you some good art to admire for a while. I will try to keep it short and include more pictures for inspiration, I hope you enjoy it.

The Style

The style of Photography I enjoy most is concert and concept photography and both artists I am going to show you are specialized in this field (plus travel photography, which I also love). The reason for this is that I believe photographers can capture unique moments and emotions during concerts in a very special and impactful way. And concept art, in general, is just my sweet spot.

Ashley Osborn

Ashley is definitely one of the most Inspiring professional photographers I have encountered and she is a huge inspiration, not only with her art but with her story as well.

26 years old and self-thought, she started from the absolute zero, but her persistence and passion brought her to the absolute top of concert and concept photography. She has toured with several internationally famous bands including Bring Me The Horizon, PVRIS, All Time Low, Pierce the Veil, Yellowcard, and many more, shot videos for upcoming bands, and been the photographer for several Drop Dead photoshoots. Her work is really stunning and I love her style and way of expression through photos. I think she is able to capture the emotions of live shows and the connection between the artists and the fans in a way not many people can. And that is really inspiring.

She started as a street team volunteer for various labels and gradually made her way into big artist’s shows and as she describes it

I always brought my little point-and-shoot camera with me to concerts, and I’d squeeze myself into the middle of 400 kids, aimlessly pointing a camera over my head to get the best shot.

But instead of retelling her story I will present you a link to a very interesting and inspiring blog where she says everything – from starting as an enthusiast to teaching herself the best tricks, and getting where she is now. Here you go.

Seriously, I really admire her work and I have a hard time choosing the best pictures to show you. I strongly recommend checking her website out, as well as her Instagram page. She has a really we designed and structured website and has divided her work into categories. Her style is a little dark, but nevertheless inspiring, especially if you are into Black and White photography.

Matty Vogel

I discovered Matty not too long ago when I found out he is the photographer touring with PVRIS on their massive world tour following the release of All we know of Heaven…

I was used to seeing Ashley as the photographer for PVRIS so I had to check him out and see his work. I was pleasantly surprised. His style is quite similar to the artist above and his work is equally inspiring. I accidentally met him on the above-mentioned PVRIS tour and I spoke with him for a few minutes before I realized who he is and he seems like a really positive and down-to-earth guy.

What I like about his style of photography is that he always manages to find a weird angle to shoot from and makes the final result really different from the average photos and gives it a unique touch. Capturing the emotion and the magic of the moment goes without saying.

Something else I really like about Matty is that he regularly updates a blog where he gives professional photography advice and suggestions for shooting gear. He also has templates and Lightroom presets some of which are free to use, which I think might be really useful for the aspiring photographers out there. Check it out, you might get some good insights.

Apart from touring and shooting for bands, Matty is a passionate travel photographer and skillfully combines touring the world with taking pictures of all the amazing places he visits. I seriously have no idea when this guy takes a break.

His travel photos are mostly on his Instagram page, but unique photos in HD, his blog, and presets can be found on his web page.

Honorable Mention – Ryan Scott Graham

I accidentally discovered this particular artist thanks to Alternative Press Issue 355, Feb 2018. Surprisingly enough, Ryan is not a photographer and those into pop-punk music will recognize him as the vocalist of State Champs.

The reason I am mentioning him here is that thanks to the above-mentioned magazine I found out he has a passion for photography and creative writing, which he combines in an incredible and very interesting way.

What he does is he takes some cool photos and creates some really short stories based on the photos. Stories with a huge amount of emotion, mostly revolving around love, and usually including a dose of important lessons and though food in the readers. Can it get more inspiring than that?

I couldn’t find them on the Internet so I had to take pictures from the magazine with my phone. I hope the quality is okay and you get the idea. Certainly a thing worth trying and experimenting with as a form of art.

I never thought about this type of art, even though I am certain it exists for a long time, but I find it extremely creative and inspiring. A random photo taken with no purpose in mind can spark a story with a really thought-provoking meaning. Those three combinations of pictures and creative writing certainly made me think about a lot of things and even though they are mostly work of fiction I am quite sure there is a grain of a true story in all of them.

That’s about it – a quick overview of my favorite photographers and some cool pictures made by them. I hope I managed to inspire you at least a little bit and give you some good suggestions for artists to follow on social media. Keep creating, keep taking photos, writing, drawing, and following your passion. Stay tuned for more blogs on various topics.
