As all you know this is an important factor for search engine optimization. Custom robots header tag is must for blogger platform website because we don't have more option for SEO optimization as we have on wordpress hosted website, so today I will discuss about setting custom robots header tag for blogger blog.

Setting Up Custom Robots Header Tag For Blogger

1. Go to blogger dashboard.
2. Navigate to setting >> Search Preferences >> Crawlers and indexing
3. Click Custom robots header tag >> Edit
4. Click Yes to enable this option

What are Custom Robots Header Tags in Blogger?

In Blogger settings you will have the following directives under Blogger custom Robots, which is explain below.

Directive	Meaning
all	There are no restriction for indexing or serving. Note:this directive is the default value and has no effect if explicitly listed.
noindex	Do not show this page in search results and do not show "Cached" link in search results
nofollow	Do not follow the links on this page
none	Equivalent to noindex, nofollow
noarchive	Do not show "Cached" link in search results
nosnippet	Do not show snippet in the search results for this page
noodp	Do not use metadata from Open Directory Project for title or snippets shown for this page
notranslate	Do not offer translation of this page in search results
noimageindex	Do not index images on this page
unavailable_after:	Do not show this page in search results after specified datetime. The datetime must be specified in the RFC-850

Don't experiment with custom robots header tag unless you are completely sure of what you are doing because incorrect use of robot tags can affect the performance of your site in search results.
