Crop production!!!
All there is to know..

Crop production is a branch of agriculture that deals with growing Crops for use as food and fibre. Crop production includes vegetable, field, oilseed, fruit, tuber, cereal, grain legume and fibre crops. 

Vegetable crops have a wide diversity as they can either be eaten as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, seeds, tubers, and bulbs. Examples Include potato, carrots, beets, butternut, cucumber, lettuce just name a few. 

Field crops includes maize and wheat. They are used to feed people and animals.

Oilseed crops are primarily grown for their oil content. Examples include groundnut, sunflower, safflower, linseed, soybean and cotton just to name a few.

Fruit crops are perennial edible crops, they can either be temperate, subtropical and tropical fruit crops e.g. peaches, apples, strawberries, tomatoes etc.

Cereal crops, grass cultivated for its edible parts (grain). Examples include rice, wheat, maize, barley, millet, sorghum, rye etc.

Grain legumes, these are protein rich foods. Examples include chick pea, cowpea (It has nothing to do with cows), lentil, mung bean, pigeon pea, tepary bean, peas, groundnut, soybean and Bambara groundnut.

Fibre crops, crops grown for their fibre coconut, hemp, flax, sisal and cotton.

Now you may be wondering why some crops fall in more than one category, well this goes to show that some crops are rather special and one use is just not enough.😊
