“Hey, can I talk to you for a minute?”

“Sure what’s up?”

“I’ve been thinking lately.”

“About what?”

“About you.”

“Aww really?”

“Yes, I really admire you. You’re smart, talented, beautiful. Like, you’re all the right things.”

“Aww thank you! You’re so sweet, handsome & smart.”

“So, I’ve been wondering….”

“About what?”

“What if we, you know….got closer.”

“What do you mean?”

“Like, closer together.”

“Oh…um.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Yeah I….I mean I like you. You’re really sweet & any girl would be lucky to have you.”

“Any girl? But….why can’t you be that lucky girl?”

“Um….well I mean, there’s a somebody for everybody.”

“What’s that suppose to mean?”

“Like….maybe we are meant to be just friends.”

“Just friends? But, how can you say that to me but….”

“Look I do like you, but I just think we’re not meant for each other.”

“But we could try….”

“No I don’t think it would work. I don’t want it to ruin our friendship.”

“Y-yeah you right. I guess friends is the best for us.”

“Yeah, its okay. Lets just move pass this alright?”

“Yeah…sure.”

Later that night, the boy fell asleep into a nightmare.

He found himself standing in a dark area with a red light that surrounded where he stood.

“You a dumbass yo.” A voice was heard echoing

“What the hell? Who’s that?”

“Its us lil nigga.”

“Who the hell are you?”

“We the reason why she don’t want you nigga.”

“What the hell you talking about?”

“Nah nigga you know what we talkin bout.”

“No, I don’t. The fuck is this?”

“This the place lil Niggas like you get put in.”

“No, apparently weird niggas like you get put in here. Look, I don’t have time for whatever this shit is.” The boy started turning around to walk away.

“So you just gon’ walk away & let us keep fuckin’ her?”

The boy stopped & turned around with a furious face.

“She don’t want you nigga. She want us. We got her ass. She ain’t ever gon’ wanna be with you. She curved you cuz you whack. You lame. You boring. She like real niggas like us.”

“She gon’ keep yo ass sitting on dat bench while we stay dunkin’ on her. You aint bout it. If some shit went down, you ain’t got the heart to protect her. You weak mah nigga. She need a rider, a protector, a nigga thats gon give her what she wants real good.”

The boys face grew angrier.

“Why you gettin mad? Watchu wanna do bout it? If you want the bitch, come get her.”

The boy started running towards the figures. But as he thought he was getting closer, they were only getting farther away. The hooded figures continuously taunted & teased him as he couldn’t reach him.

He then gave up & sat on his knees covering his face. Another hooded figure appeared beside his shoulder.

“Look man, she just doesn’t want you. You can’t force her to want to be with you.” It said

“But why? Why does she keep going for these ignorant niggas & allow herself to face all those heartbreaks?” The boy cried

“She the type of girl that says she don’t want you now, & then realize the mistake later. Its gonna take for us to break her heart so many times for her to understand that us niggas ain’t shit.”

“But I want her to realize it now so she won’t have to go through it. If I had her, she wouldn’t never be hurt.”

“Sometimes you just gotta let them go where they wanna go. You can either stay & watch us keep breaking her heart in hopes that she’ll one day turn to you. Or you can turn you back to her & move on with your life. She made her choice, now you gotta make yours man.”

He had been friends with her for quite a while. He secretly fell in love with her. He wanted to express that love by pushing for something more, but she denied it. She did not feel the same way he felt. She did not see herself being with a boy like him because he was not the type she would fall for. She wanted him to string along as a friend so she could confide in when she wanted to. She was a beautiful & smart girl that wasn’t so smart with her choices & emotions. She would not realize that being just friends with the boy would be one of the biggest regrets in her life.

But what must the boy do? Would he allow himself to face heartbreaks of his own watching her be with the same kind of people that would destroy her emotionally? Or would he let his love for her go away as turns his back on her & leaves her?
