Economics and the Environment

When it comes down to living an Environmentally Friendly lifestyle the term "expensive" comes to life for many people.
I personally do not have the luxury sometimes to but the most sustainable option for the Environment. However, when I do spend more money on certain thing I decide that what I am willing to waste my money is worth the price. It should to a certain degree be environment-friendly and not do much harm to my environment. The more expensive the object is the more options that this product is better for the environment.
Sadly, there is a relationship between money and environmental health however not one that is necessarily a good one. The more environmentally friendly people want to be the more expensive the product is. The richer people are the more possible it is to be able to buy these environmentally friendly objects. However, rich people are not spending their money on environmental friendly things instead they are wasteful.
As much as I would like to say I buy with the environment on my mind my buying decision does not show this. Most Americans believe that the environment needs help however it does not show in their buying decisions.
What do you spend money on and how does this reflect "voting with your wallet"?
