Introducing The Vehicle Energy Harvesting System

Chivas Regal, the world’s first luxury whisky, has selected the South African Top 5 for The Venture IV, a global social entrepreneur competition to find and support promising entrepreneurs from across the globe who want to Win the Right Way, by changing the world for the better.
The South African finalists stand a chance to represent the country in the international version of the Venture, and win their share of $1 million.
“We were blown away by the volume and quality of the applications we received, which made choosing the top five not easy,” says Shelley Reeves, marketing manager at Chivas Regal South Africa. “These are all business-savvy entrepreneurs who have a real heart for the communities in which they are working. I’m confident that whoever wins will do us proud in the international leg of the competition.”

Introducing the Vehicle Energy Harvesting System:
Urban life guarantees two seemingly unrelated certainties, namely incessant traffic and high Electricity demand. However, the Vehicle Energy Harvesting System (VEHS) has established an innovative link that leverages traffic-flow to improve electricity access.
The VEHS uses a specially designed overlay layer onto any existing or new road to harvest pressure and uses this pressure to drive a traffic turbine and generate electricity. The system can be installed and commissioned within six months thus ensuring quicker access to electricity. Over-and-above the improved electricity access, the simplistic design of the VEHS will enable local assembly and a strategic progression to local manufacture. This, we believe, will provide the desperately needed skills and employment to the local communities as well as stimulate the struggling local economies.
