The tips that’ll boost your business

Get inspired by Artista

Whether you’re an artist, designer, or a writer, what inspires you the most?

It’s not a hard question to be asked, yet it needs a little bit of focusing and observing. Personally, I’ve always been an observer and a listener. Most of my skills were kinetic until the moment I decided to open up my small Business. Everything was brought up together at that moment giving me the opportunity to make use of it all. There are things I yet to learn and develop but I’m taking it step by step.

Even when you have an artist’s/writer’s block, there are certain things in life that inspire you all the time. You may not have enough energy or motivation to continue working, yet you immediately get inspired. It differs from a person to another but we all have that kind of aspect.

So, I’m going to ask you the same question again.
What inspires you the most?

I’ll share with you my list of the things that inspire me in my work.

Nature

What’s more inspiring than Nature itself? Watching the different landscapes, flowers, and monuments inspire me all the time. Whether I’m abroad or walking around my country, nature is my first source of inspiration. A simple walk in a garden or park helps gain my energy and motivation. Actually, my favorite scene to capture is always nature. It has that flawless beauty to it that you can’t help but admire and get inspired by it. Also, it’s a great source to create a color palette from. You can get more than one palette from each photography and it doesn’t require any experimentation or effort.

Colors

Although my favorite color is pink, but I don’t prefer using it all the time. I’d rather use colors to convey different messages, and emotions in my designs and artwork. So don’t fear experimentation with whatever colors available in front of you.

Capturing the moment

What I do is that I always have either my iPhone or my Nikon d5100 camera. In my journeys and travels since I was a kid I used to hold my camera wherever I went and took pictures of whatever interested me. I was the camerawoman since then until now. Since holding the camera for too long especially when traveling is tiring, make sure your mobile is fully charged to take pictures with it. Even if you don’t share them with anyone, keep them for yourself as a reference for you or a source of inspiration. It truly helps.

Articles and books

Maybe it’s because reading is my most favorite hobby, but I find truly essential to read articles and books related to small businesses. It helps me keep up with the trends, and develop my managerial and art skills. If it wasn’t for these readings I wouldn’t have known that much about running a small business.

And here are few advices that I found truly helpful for those who own small business or wish to establish one.

1. Experiment and work

Even if you lack confidence in your work, scribble and doodle in your small sketchbook. Carry a small notebook with you to write whatever idea(s) you have in mind. If you can’t find the time to plan and design, create a schedule or print one from the internet. Little by little you’ll be more organize and will find the time to do everything and anything you want. So experiment new techniques and develop your skills. Even if you don’t success at first, keep working and you’ll succeed eventually.

2. Observe

Observation should come first before anything else. Look at an item and break down its structure. Learn how things are made, and produced then connect the dots and merge it down with your business. If you own an art studio, look at other paintings and observe how they were painted. Then, read what inspired the artist and what’s the message behind it. It’ll help you create your own style and embed your messages(s) and feelings through your artwork. The same goes for any other business or hobby.

3. Read

As I mentioned before, reading is a must. No matter how professional and good you are, reading helps you keep up with the latest trend. You don’t have to follow a specific trend but it’s good to be knowledgable in your field. It doesn’t hurt to read few tips and tricks on how to market your business. It helps gaining the motivation and energy that you need to run your business.

4. Engage

I can’t emphasis enough on this point. If you don’t like, comment, and share other people’s content then no one will notice you. It’ll sound a little demotivating at first when you have less audience and fans but if you consistently engage yourself, people will get used to reading your content, or watch your art projects.

5. Take Photos

Wherever you are, always have your camera with you and capture the moment. Even if it wasn’t relevant to your work, it’ll guide you to what you should capture and what not to. Eventually, you’ll have a huge collection of photographs that’ll be useful for your business later on.

6. Trial and error

If needed, follow a certain trend for some time and watch the results. Don’t get obsessed with analytics but rather set a period of time of not less than a month then look back at your achievement. If the results were bad then it only means that your pattern didn’t work. But if there was an improvement, it means that it’s working.

7. Organizing and Planning

This is the last advice I’ll give you in this article. Plan your schedule ahead and organize everything. If you don’t have the time to design your own schedule, then print or purchase a ready-made planner. Use it once and you’ll notice how clear-minded and focused you’ll be.

Try these quick tips for some time and you’ll notice the improvement your business will have. And finally all of this will knock on the success doors and you’ll get there.
