Ways you could be using Apple cider vinegar incorrectly

If you are a health enthusiastic, you  probably know about the many benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar. This miracle staple has many benefits. Among the benefits includes controlling harmful levels of blood lipids.

According to a study done by a group of scientists, it has been shown to have an effect on the amounts of total body lipids. This study demonstrated that Apple Cider reduces the amount of total harmful lipids to include cholesterol, triglycerides and low-density lipoproteins and increases the good high-density lipoproteins that our body needs thereby ensuring cardiovascular health.

It has also been used in the past to cure diseases such as atherosclerosis and for other cardiovascular diseases. Other documented benefits of apple Cider Vinegar include weight loss, beauty regimens and digestive balance. These are some of the reasons why apple cider vinegar has become a popular staple in our kitchen cabinets. Many companies have begun to make different forms of apple cider vinegar to include pills, solutions, gels and also in combination with other things such as smoothies teas and an increasing number of health products.

However, if apple cider vinegar is not used correctly, it could lead to many dangerous side effects. Among the reported side effects include esophageal injury. This is mostly due to incorrect pH of some of these products. The main component of apple cider vinegar is citric acid. According to the FDA citric acid levels above 20% is considered poisonous. At this level, it is considered a corrosive agent and can destroy living tissues1.

The composition of household vinegar contains 5% of citric acid. Some of the samples collected for this study contained 3 to 10 times the amounts of the amount found in the typical household 5% apple cider vinegar. Some of the samples collected during the study also found that some of these tablets and pills besides having higher than the recommended amount of citric acid level also contain malic acid, lactic and showed microbial growth.

It is very important to bear in mind that apple cider vinegar despite its good effects is just like any other drug that should be used correctly and in the recommended amount. Besides injury to your digestive track, other documented negative side effects of using this product incorrectly include destruction to your teeth enamel especially for consumers who take apple cider vinegar undiluted and as shots.

It is important to look for authentic and reliable sources to obtain this product. There are also very good and alternative types of ciders that can provide you with the benefits of apple cider and more. I recently discovered a great product from BetterBody Foods which combines my love for apple cider vinegar and coconut. The coconut vinegar combines the rich flavor of coconut with the benefits of apple cider vinegar. I think this is a great product and has become a staple in my kitchen cabinet. In combination with the zero calorie content and rich flavor, this super food has been reported to be of benefit to diabetic patients because of a very low 35 scaled glycemic index and contains a high amount of potassium, iron and copper, selenium and others. I have particularly like the flavor of the coconut vinegar from BetterBody Foods because of how it brings out the flavor in my other ingredients and it has become my go to item to put in my teas or just to make into a drink, warm or cold and sweetened with a low calorie sweetener and in my smoothies. See how I used it in my detox and energy smoothie recipe. I think this is going to be the next hot item in our health staples section of our kitchen cabinet.

So the next time you are in the market looking to buy this product, make sure to check the labels
