2018 Audi Q6 News, Design and Release Date

The German automaker is set to release its first all-electric motor Vehicle, dubbed the 2018 Audi Q6. This vehicle is set to compete with Tesla’s yet to be released, the Model X. According to Audi the making of the new all-electric SUV will begin in 2018 in the automaker’s Brussels plant. The design of the Q6 will be based on the e-tron Quattro Concept. Though the vehicle is yet to be released, it is expected that Audi will try and give it a total range of 500 kilometers or 310 miles.

This will put it in the same league as the Tesla Model X. The 2018 Audi Q6 will mark the German automaker’s entrance into the all-electric vehicle market, that seems to be growing rapidly.

2018 Audi Q6 – Body and Innovations

The vehicle design cues are inspired by the 2014 Prologue Concept. Additionally, the 2018 Audi Q6 will be sportier than the Q7. That being said, the new model will feature a swooping roofline as well as angular headlights. Furthermore, the Audi Q6 will have a hard-angled grille while its doors will be deeply sculpted. The taillights on this vehicle will also be similar to those found on the Prologue Concept.

Considering that the 2018 Audi Q6 will have a coupe-inspired design, its interior is likely going to have five seats. Though not much is known about the interior of this car, given that it is an electric car, a lot of gadgets and an advanced infotainment system will be a guarantee. Also, it is likely to come with a monitoring battery system. Additionally, the car will come with a plethora of safety features.

All-Electric Vehicle

Being that the 2018 Audi Q6 will be an all-electric vehicle, it will be powered by electric motors on all four wheels. The power output of the Q6’s powertrain remains a mystery. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that it will match that of the 2016 R8 e-tron, which has an output of 445 horsepower. The power output of the vehicle will be somewhere in the range of 375 horsepower.

The four electric motors will be powered by a 100 Kilowatt battery, which interestingly is 10 kilowatts higher than that of the R8. However, due to its higher curb weight, the new Q6 will have a range of just under 200 miles. Nevertheless, this will be one of the fastest all-electric SUVs on the market.

Price, Development and Competitors

The exact release date and price of the 2018 Audi Q6 remain a closely guarded secret. However, the car’s expected retail price will range between $ 70,000 and $ 75,000. As for its release date, the Audi is set to release the new Q6 sometime in 2018.

The all-electric main competitors include the same market with the BMW X5 4OE, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 500e, Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the Tesla Model X.
