Japanese men hold competition to celebrate baldness

Tags: club bald

Members of the Bald Men Club of Tsuruta City, Japan, used their heads last week at an annual tournament that features a unique variation on tug-of war. The competitors each stick a suction cup attached to a red rope on their heads. Then without using their hands the men try to pull the cup off their opponent’s hairless dome. Founded in 1989, the club encourages its 65 members “to brighten the world with our shiny heads.” Club chairman Teijiro Sugo, 70, is hoping his tug-of-war goes international so he can organize “a bald men’s Olympic tournament.”
