How To Rock New York Fashion Week Without Actually Going!

With New York Fashion Week coming up quite soon, it is about that time of the year when all of our fashion senses are at their highest. Seeing gorgeous models wearing gorgeous clothes gives, me especially, a pit in my stomach of excitement and the longing motivation to be able to 1) wear those clothes and 2) someday be at NYFW. Unfortunately (silently crying on the inside), I am not going to NYFW 2017 but it is definitely on my bucket list for 2018! Until then, here are some tips on how to look as though you are walking the streets of NYFW without actually being there. I will talk about how to style a casual outfit up enough to that if you WERE in New York in the next week, everyone would stop in their path, staring out your chic and adorable outfit!
First is first, TEXTURE. What do I mean by 'texture?' The majority of us, when we go shopping, tend to feel the material first. We feel the 'texture.' And no, I am not saying solely base your look off how something feels. What I AM saying, however, is add some different textures into your look. If you are wearing denim jeans, wear a velvet or satin shirt. These materials shine in light, which will guarantee it will catch someone's eye. If you decide leather pants are what you are feeling, add a more subtle blouse that will allow all the attention to be directed towards the leather pants. Different textured clothing adds dimension to the outfit. Leather gives you a particular shape while denim, per say, gives you a more causal/chic feel. People will not be able to just "keep walking." With different fabrics paired with each other, it creates a look that catches someone's eye, EXACTLY WHAT NYFW IS, a time for outfits to make people stop in their path and stare.
Tip #2! COLOR. I totally understand that black, white, and grey make for very pretty and aesthetically pleasing outfits. But here's the catch. Almost everyone, whether in the fashion industry or not, tends to opt for black, white, and grey. These colors aren't unique. So if and when at fashion week, add some color. It does not have to be an outfit full of colors from the rainbow, but merely a colorful purse, shoes, etc. If black, white, and grey are your go-to-options, wear them, but remember, if you want to stand out in a crowd of important people in the industry, add some color. For the people that wear black, white, and grey because they truly love it, red is a very classic color that goes really well with those. Bright colors catch people's eye. If they are walking by and see a bright blue purse, they will immediately turn around to look at it. One piece of color stands out in the crowd, making sure people notice you.
And last but not least, we have (what I like to call), STATEMENTS! At this point in time, you might be wondering what on earth "statements" are? Well, "statements" are a lot of different things. They can vary from makeup to the socks you decide to pair with you shoes. A Statement is something that most people will not have, unique to you, making you stand out (making a statement to say). Statement makeup means using "crazy" colors instead of subtle nudes. It means wearing turquoise shoes with a purple pant. Whatever your "statement" is, it is different and unique to you, and you only. A statement about who you are. "Statement" pieces of clothing will, guaranteed be noticed because you are different. And who doesn't like something that is different and exciting?
Well, these are my three TOP tips on 'How To Rock New York Fashion Week Without Actually Going.'
