Is Pinterest a suitable platform for your brand?

Pinterest has been termed as the fastest growing media platform today. One thing about social media platforms today us that everyone is one at least one. From the young to the old, businesses and individuals they are all using one social platform or another. Before joining Pinterest and trying to market your business on the platform, it is important to figure out whether it will be good for your brand or not. You do not want to end up wasting hard-earned resources and time to try to market yourself in a platform that will probably never work for you.

1. Your target demographic

While everyone is trying to join one social platform or another, not every platform will work for everyone. For instance, Pinterest has a higher population of young and middle-aged women than that of men. What does this mean for your brand? Well, if your business’ target demographic is not young and middle-aged women, you may not find as many enthusiasts for what you are offering, as you would like. If you are looking to expand your target demographic, however, this is a perfect platform for your brand.

2. Have you already established yourself on twitter and Facebook?

Brands that already have an established following on twitter and Facebook have a better chance of succeeding on Pinterest. To join Pinterest, you can log in via Facebook, twitter or email. If you already have a following, therefore, it will be easier to get people to follow you on Pinterest. You will also be able to share your pins on Facebook with your fans. This will allow your followers to know what you have been pinning on your Pinterest account. It will be much easier for you to get followers once you are on Facebook since most Facebook users are also on twitter and Pinterest.

3. Have you invested on good quality images?

While you do not need to be a professional photographer to be successful on Pinterest, it is important that you have good-looking images that represent your brand. Not all these images need to be original; you also have the option or re-pinning posts by others. Even quotes and infographics are usually just as interesting as brand images. However, if you want to use Pinterest to market your brand, you need to invest on good quality pictures that will make people want to buy from you.

Conclusion

While interest is a great place to market yourself, it may not be the right platform for every business. One, therefore, needs to know their target demographics and the objectives of the business before joining the social media platform.
