Striving to Thriving

There is  big difference between just "surviving" and to "thrive". I recently watched a documentary calledLiving on one dollar a Dayon Netflix, and it showed these families in very poor areas who seemed happier than the majority of people in North America. I'm not saying we have no reason to be unhappy, I am just asking why is it that many people in much poorer situations and villages can be or are just as happy with so so much less than us. We are constantly bombarded with so much stimuli that it overwhelms us without us even knowing. These poor people in these villages are only trying to Survive, that's their main goal and when they survive they are happy; that's all it takes. Whenever you are feeling Stress coming on, try to minimize the external stimuli around you and watch the stress fade away. Limit your phone time and set aside a few minutes in the day where you can go on Social Media and other than that time allotted , don't go near any social media. Research has shown that social media  increases your stress level, partly due to the constant comparing that we do. Change up your routine and get out of your daily pattern and try something new every once in a while, take a different route to work, watch a documentary instead of a sitcom, etc. Find out what hobbies you might have. Don't just watch the days go by and wait for your vacation, appreciate all you have and learn to thrive rather than just survive because you have been blessed with that option; you have so much to be grateful for and once we recognize that, the happier we become.
