Wild Life

Wild Life
By Cynthia DeFelice

A heartwarming story about living off the land and coming back home, the perfect read for the hunter-gatherer inside of you.

Erik Carlson is excited when he gets a hunting license, but his plans to go hunting with his best friend is dashed when he finds out his parents are going to the war in Iraq to train soldiers, which means he has to go visit his grandparents, Oma (Grandmother) and Big Darrell (Grandfather)... for 6 months!

One day, Erik finds an injured dog and dubs her "Quill". Big Darrell does not welcome the idea of Erik keeping a dog in the house, so he sends Quill outside (and Erik goes and sleeps with her).

When Erik gets fed up with Big Darrell, he decides to run away with Quill. Through a series of events, Erik learns about living off the land and special tips that help increase his survival chances out in the dangerous lands of North Dakota.

This book is for the hunter-gatherer, the ultra-marathoner or just a person looking for thrills in a book.
