Do You Know What These Celebrities’ Political Party Affiliations Are?

We’ve all heard the sayings about how Hollywood – and many celebrities – tend to lean towards liberalism and the Democratic party. Many of the celebrities on this list are actually Democrats (or very liberal, at least), though a surprising amount of celebrities are Republican!

Not all celebrities are super vocal when it comes to their political affiliations, but these 25 celebrities have all given indications of their preferred party. Here is what they believe in:

1. George Clooney, democrat

George Clooney was very vocal during the 2008 and 2012 campaigns, and was a die-hard Obama supporter during both elections. In a 2011 interview, he said, “I’m disillusioned by the people who are disillusioned by Obama … If he [were] a Republican running, because Republicans are better at this, they’d be selling him as the guy who stopped 400,000 jobs a month from leaving the country. They’d be selling him as the guy who saved the auto industry.”

Clooney then added, “If they had the beliefs, they’d be selling him as the guy who got rid of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ who got Osama bin Laden. You could be selling this as a very successful three years.”

Clooney is still a democrat and is now working on getting support for Hillary Clinton. He’s not shy about his beliefs!

2. Dwayne “the rock” Johnson, republican

In 2000, Dwayne Johnson spoke at the Republican national convention and is currently registered as a republican. However, he has made it very clear that the label isn’t everything to him and that he is careful not to stick to only one side of politics.

The Rock once said in an interview, “I have good friends who are politicians on both sides. Clinton is a good buddy of mine; Obama is a good buddy of mine—a multitude of people who are buddies.”

3. Leonardo DiCaprio, democrat

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the biggest Democratic celebrities. He’s always been an avid supporter of the more liberal party, and publicly supported John Kerry in 2004. In 2008, he donated $2,300 to the Obama campaign, which is the maximum donor amount allowed.

In 2014, DiCaprio spoke alongside President Obama at the Climate Summit at the UN General Assembly Hall. He currently endorses Hillary Clinton.

4. Kristin Chenoweth, republican

Kristin Chenoweth is everyone’s favorite Broadway diva, but despite the liberalism of Broadway, she is a Christian Republican. She is, however, very liberal in some ways, though she takes more conservative stances on other issues.

Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com

Chenoweth is a big believer in equal rights no matter what a person’s sexual orientation is, and once said that she “doesn’t believe being gay is a sin.”

5. Beyoncé and Jay-Z, democrats

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have both always been very vocal about their support for the Democratic party, especially during the 2008 and 2012 elections. Both avidly supported Obama, and Beyoncé even sang the national anthem at Obama’s 2012 presidential inauguration!

FayesVision/WENN.com

During the 2012 campaign, Queen B and Jay-Z hosted a charity event for Obama in Manhattan, and Beyoncé recently attended a Clinton fundraiser in NYC.

We love how fearless these two are about their beliefs! Are any other celebrities on this list as vocal as they are?

6. Clint Eastwood, republican

Clint Eastwood has made every girl swoon at some point in their lives, but made some headlines during the last election with less than flattering news. The Million Dollar Baby director is very devoted to the Republican party and gave a speech during the 2012 Republican Convention… which made people question him more than anything else.

Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com

Despite this, Eastwood is generally a “hit” amongst Republicans and is seen as being a respectable, forward-thinking Republican.

7. Katy Perry, democrat

Katy Perry is a huge supporter of the Democratic party, and has been since she first became a pop star. During the 2012 election, Perry performed at a political rally for President Obama in Milwaukee. She even wore the word “Forward” on her dress!

Brian To/WENN.com

Once Obama was elected, Perry performed at Obama’s inauguration. Rumor has it that Perry didn’t invite her parents because they’re both Republicans!

8. Bruce Willis, republican

Most Hollywood celebrities tend to be Democratic (or at least very liberal), but that is not the case for Bruce Willis! Willis is a very vocal supporter of the Republican party, especially when it comes to speaking out about the 2nd Amendment.

FayesVision/WENN.com

In an interview, Willis stated, “If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn’t they take all your rights away from you?”

9. Natalie Portman, democrat

Natalie Portman is a very smart girl (she graduated from Harvard in 2003!). She is a strong Democrat, and was a very outspoken supporter for Obama during his first campaign and spoke at a Women for Obama event at Las Vegas in 2012.

FayesVision/WENN.com

In a speech, Portman said, “President Obama fights for women every day, and I am proud to stand with him on behalf of women and girls across the country.”

10. Reese Witherspoon, democrat

Reese Witherspoon had a very conservative, Southern upbringing, but she’s still turned out to be a die-hard Democrat! In 2003 and 2005, Witherspoon donated money to Hillary Clinton’s senatorial campaigns, and is still a Democrat today!

Apega/WENN.com

Witherspoon also supported Obama during his campaigns, attending many high-priced events in his support.

Reese Witherspoon is so graceful, even when it comes to politics! But that’s not true of all the celebrities on this list…

11. 50 Cent, republican

50 Cent has always been some strange sort of Republican, vocalizing his strong support for George W. Bush during his campaign and presidency. He famously called the younger Bush a “gangsta” and spent 2005 as a strong Republican supporter.

Joel Ginsburg/WENN.com

Recently, however, 50 Cent has started voicing his support of Hillary Clinton and President Obama. He said, “after a while, you look and judge character” rather than vote by political party.

12. Jake Gyllenhaal, democrat

Jake Gyllenhaal is pretty involved when it comes to politics, having appeared in a Rock the Vote commercial, a campaign which urges young people to go out and vote according to their beliefs. He has also been in an American Civil Liberties campaign to support civil liberties.

Joseph Marzullo/WENN.com

In 2004, Gyllenhaal supported John Kerry during the election and is a huge supporter of gay rights and marriage equality.

13. Jessica Simpson, republican

Jessica Simpson is a native Texan and southerner, and unlike Reese Witherspoon, she is a Republican. It has been reported that she’s said that she “love[s] the heck” out of George W. Bush, but that doesn’t mean that she’s always going to be a Republican.

WENN.com

She has publicly voiced support of President Obama and loves Michelle Obama, saying, “she’s such an incredible woman, and she’s with such a powerful man.”

14. Brad Pitt, liberal

Brad Pitt is a very liberal man and always has been. He’s done charity work for multiple organizations and has created a very diverse family – and these liberal tendencies have translated into his political work. He’s advocated for the legalization of marijuana, gay marriage, and the division of church and state on the Today show.

Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com

Brad Pitt was also a huge supporter of President Obama during his campaigns… and is also rumored to be a distantly related cousin of him.

15. Cameron Diaz, democrat

Cameron Diaz is a very vocal Democrat and always has been. In 2004, she strongly supported John Kerry but also very publicly denounced his opponent, George W. Bush. She wore a shirt around that read, “I won’t vote for a son of a Bush!”

Dan Jackman/WENN.com

In 2008, she donated $26,200 to President Obama’s campaign and told FOX news that election day “was a great day” and that she was “proud of our country that democracy is still intact.”

Cameron Diaz is very proud of her political views! And she’s not the only one…

16. Adam Sandler, republican

Adam Sandler is a pretty private person and is especially tight-lipped about his political affiliations, but he has done several things that lean towards Republicanism. In 2007, Sandler donated over $2,000 to Republican Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign.

Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com

Sandler also attended the Republican National Convention back in 2004, and has since been a little more open about his political views.

17. Jennifer Aniston, democrat

Rumor has it that one of the reasons that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston split was because she was too conservative for his liberal views, though she did also support John Kerry during the 2004 election season. Aniston is a registered Democrat.

Apega/WENN.com

In 2008, Jennifer Aniston supported President Obama and even donated $2,300 to his campaign.

18. Tom Brady, republican

Pretty recently, Tom Brady made headlines in not the best way for saying that he is good friends with Donald Trump, and not altogether denying that he’s supporting his friend in the elections. When asked what he thought, his response was, “Can I just stay out of this debate?”

TNYF/WENN.com

Furthermore, he added, “Donald is a good friend of mine. I have known him for a long time. I support all my friends. That is what I have to say.”

19. Hilary Duff, republican

Hillary Duff is a Texas native, and similarly to the rest of the state, Hillary Duff identifies as a Republican. She is not the most Republican person ever, however, and will often vote based off of the candidates themselves, not solely based on their party. She first made headlines when she performed at George W. Bush’s 2005 inauguration.

WENN.com

In 2011, however, Duff turned to the Democratic side, tweeting, “Wow just had the most interesting dinner with about 20 couples and @BarackObama!! Always fascinating to talk to such influential people!”

20. Demi Moore, liberal

Even though her ex-husband Bruce Willis is a Republican, Demi Moore herself is extremely liberal. Maybe that caused some tension between them? In 2008 (and then again in 2012), Demi Moore vocally voiced her support for President Obama.

FayesVision/WENN.com

Moore even went as far as directing a celebrity-packed “I Pledge” video during President Obama’s first term!

Isn’t it awesome how she’s so supportive? There a ton of other celebrities who would do the same:

21. Vince Vaughn, conservative

Vince Vaughn has self-identified himself as a conservative, and has supported very conservatives candidates in the past. Vaughn is a major supporter of Republican Ron Paul, though he once said in an interview that he has “lost faith” in the United States government.

FayesVision/WENN.com

Vaughn has been very introspective in the past about his political views, saying that he attributes his conservatism to his working-class upbringing.

22. Meryl Streep, democrat

Meryl Streep tends to keep to herself when it comes to her personal life and her political views, but Streep has quetly supported the Democratic party in the past, donating more than $39,000 over the past few years to the liberal party.

Brian To/WENN.com

Streep has been very vocal about some issues, however, including women’s rights and gender equality. She’s even lobbied to Congress to build a National Women’s History Museum in Washington D.C.!

23. Justin Timberlake, democrat

Justin Timberlake is a very vocal Democrat and proud supporter of President Obama and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. In 2008, Timberlake made an appearance at an Obama rally and performed “Vote in the Box” to get people to vote for President Obama.

Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com

When Obama voiced his support of gay marriage in 2012, Timberlake tweeted, “Barack Obama inspires me once again. True leadership is when you are willing to risk your power and voice so that ALL of ours can be heard.”

24. Taylor Swift, ambiguity

Taylor Swift has been very private when it comes to her political beliefs, though she has spoken out about some of her more liberal beliefs. She has voiced her support for both Democrats and Republicans in the past. In 2008, she performed at the Republican National Convention, though she vocalized support for President Obama.

WENN.com

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Swift said that she’s “never seen this country so happy about a political decision in my entire time of being alive” and that she was “so glad this was [her] first election.”

25. Ben Affleck, democrat

Ben Affleck is Democratic through and through, and has spent his time very publicly endorsing several Democratic politicians. In an interview, Affleck once spoke about how he grew up in a very liberal household, saying he grew up “in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood.”

Ivan Nikolov/WENN.com

Affleck has supported Al Gore, John Kerry, and President Obama in the past, and is now currently endorsing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. #heswithher
