2016 is really proving to be the worst year ever. On Monday, Angelina Jolie filed for divorced against Brad Pitt, to whom she has been married for two years but it feels like they have been together forever. The power couple has dominated Hollywood since 2004 after they met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. They spent ten years together and had six children before they finally gave in to the public’s wish to have them married, and we all assumed it would last forever.

While Jolie simply stated that the reason for her decision was due to irreconcilable differences, other sources say otherwise. Apparently, the famed actress didn’t like the way Pitt was a father to their children and there is also speculation about drug and alcohol abuse. In the spotlight, Brangelina and their family seem so perfect, but clearly, we didn’t know what went on behind closed doors. Jolie’s attorney, Robert Offer stated, “This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.” 

Apparently, the court documents say that the couple has been separated since September 15th before she made the final decision. Brad Pitt released a statement as well, telling the public, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.” The world is also saddened by this news because we never thought it would happen. Clearly, love is now dead.

Gossip mogul TMZ was the first to break this horrible news and in their report, they said that Jolie wants full physical custody of all six children. Pitt will be given joint legal custody and visitation rights.

Since the news broke out, the internet has gone wild and everyone has something to say about it. Now that it is confirmed that Mr. and Mrs. Smith are no more, everyone has been choosing sides and, of course, Jennifer Aniston is being brought into the discussion. Looks like it is 2005 again, folks when Brad Pitt divorced Aniston so he could be with his new love.

On Twitter, not only is #Brangelina trending but so is Jennifer Aniston and #TeamJen. Maybe this is our way to mask the pain we are feeling about the breakup. Or maybe we are really this petty.

Jennifer Aniston has yet to respond to the fact that today she is the most amusing meme, but maybe since she doesn’t have any social media accounts, she doesn’t really care about it. Some people, however, are defending since she is happily married now.
