Fear of Growing Up

I’m a junior in college. I can definitely relate to feeling fearful of Growing up. Being a kid, the most exciting thing in the world was growing up. We craved responsibility, independence, the perks of growing up. At least in my case, all I wanted was to have a job, legally drink, be in a relationship, get married, have children and do so many things. Now, I’m 20 years old and all these things are terrifying. From growing up I’ve learned the difference between having a job and having a career. I have two jobs but I understand that when I graduate I aspire to have a career in journalism but it’s so nerve-wracking to think that pretty soon I will be living on my own and am actually so much closer to those things I fantasized about as a little kid and I’M FREAKING OUT. I know I’m not the only one. I think from the age of 20-23 is the huge reality check of wow, I’m really an adult and everything I do now will affect my future.

The song that I would tie along with this issue is Youth (Adventure Club Remix)  by Foxes.

The lyrics alone are self-explanatory.

“Don’t tell me our youth is running out, It’s only just begun”
