The Most Anticipated Films Still To Come In 2016

With the first half of the year seemingly flying by, we’ve seen hundreds of films come and go at the cinema. Blockbuster films such as Deadpool, Finding Dory, Zootopia and Captain America: Civil War have all been released to big box office numbers.

But with 2016 far from over, we’re going to take a look at the most anticipated films still to be released in 2016. With comedies, action, animation and more still to come, here are some of the films we’re most excited for in the second half of 2016.

Suicide Squad

With an all-star cast that features Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker and even more high profile names, this is one superhero movie that is going to turn the whole genre on its head. With each trailer, the hype for this Film has increased tenfold, it promises to bring some lightheartedness to the otherwise serious DC Extended Universe films that included March’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Opens on August 5th.

Doctor Strange

The other Superhero film in this list, Doctor Strange is Marvel Studio’s first foray into its magical heroes and realms, and they’ll be hoping that a big name cast, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange himself, will get big crowds into the cinema. The rest of the cast includes Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, in what Marvel hopes is it’s first of many magical adventures. Released on November 4th.

Moana

Disney’s latest animated feature is their first set in the Polynesian Islands, starring their first Polynesian Princess. Moana is an adventure film in which the young titular character aligns herself with Dwayne Johnson’s demigod character, Maui to find a legendary island. As well as being an adventure film, it’s also a classic Disney musical, featuring music from traditional Polynesian artists. With a gorgeous looking trailer, the film is set to capture imaginations everywhere on release. Released on 23rd November in the US.

The Founder

The story of McDonald’s founder, Ray Croc, and how the small hamburger restaurant transformed into the world’s largest fast food chain. Described as ‘The Social Network’ meets ‘There Will Be Blood’ this drama is sure to be an awards contender this year. Starring Michael Keaton as Ray Croc, this film is already being touted by some as being Keaton’s 3rd involvement in a row, in a picture that wins Best picture at the Oscars. Released on 5th August.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

A brand new entry in the J.K. Rowling magical universe, starring the wizarding and magical adventures of Newt Scamander, a magi-zoologist who travels the world looking for mythical and magical beasts. Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne plays Newt Scamander, with supporting acting from Colin Farrell, Katherine Waterston, and Dan Fogler. J.K. Rowling is once again hoping to whisk you away into her magical world. Released on 18th November.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The first spin-off from the main Star Wars story sees a group of rebels risking it all to get the all important Death Star plans. With no crossover with the main Star Wars series, we’ll be introduced to a whole new world of characters, aliens, and robots to follow in their adventures. Starring Felicity Jones, Forest Whittaker and a host of other talented actors and actresses, this film comes hot on the heels of last year’s biggest film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Can this film become as big a success as last year’s massive entry in the Star Wars franchise? Releases on December 14th.
