You can't really get more Melbourne than a New York inspired Bagel bar in an inconspicuous red brick building down a graffiti lined laneway now can you. 

This weekend my good friend Kelly from Travel Blog Map My Adventures (and seasoned matcha drinker) flew down from Brisbane, so I thought I'd better show her the best that Melbourne has to offer. Being the Japanophile that she is, she went straight for the matcha latte and man did it look tasty.

"You had me at bagel" is what she said when I suggested Manchester Press. I mean who doesn't love a good bagel? Kelly ordered the NY Lox bagel with smoked salmon, capers and fresh dill Cream Cheese. I on the other hand ordered the one vegan option, the Eggplant with roasted eggplant, tomato, spinach, basil pesto and roasted capsicum. Now I'm not usually a fan of capsicum, but Manchester press may have converted me as there was not one skerrick of food left on my plate.

The one thing that ordering the vegan option has taught me is that you're very rarely dissapointed. The only thing I think I'd like to change to the Eggplant bagel is maybe adding some Tofutti (vegan cream cheese), because bagels and cream cheese are one of the best combinations ever.
