Los Angeles & Santa Monica, California

I've been neglecting my blog and can make no promises that I won't disappear for a few months again.  Nothing new in my life, just the usual kids, work, and sleep (whenever possible).  I have started to look at ways to have a career outside of the US or one that allows me to travel.  I am still debating an MFA over a Master's in teaching English as a second language.  I know that the ESL will let me travel more but I would be giving up my biggest dream of being an art professor but I am very passionate about traveling and having the twins grow up seeing he world. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out.

In other news, I did make it too California...I can't remember the exact dates but I think it was July, when my mom was visiting.  It was a mini vacation, just one night.  The drive was lackluster, the highlights was a town with wind turbines, but it was mostly desert for most of the drive.

I can honestly say I would never drive in LA, my husband took to the driving style like a duck to water.  I was panicked and afraid we'd get into a accident.  The first thing we did was drive straight to the Pier in Santa Monica, our hotel was not far and I wanted to make the most out of our short vacation.

After the pier we walked a little and decided to go back to the hotel.  Later in the day, my husband and I drove over to Korea town while my mother watched the twins.  We had Korean food and checked out some of the stores there.  It was great for my husband, because he spent 5 years in Korea and really missed it sometimes.

After Korea town, we drove back to the hotel and hit up the pier again to watch the sunset.  My husband didn't understand my obsession for wanting to see the sunset.  Even after I explained to him that I was from the east coast, so I would never see the sunset over the ocean unless I came to the west coast.  Santa Monica pier was not the best place to watch  the sunset because it was a little more in and the sun set over the hills, but it was still nice to see.
The next day we drove over to Korea town again and took a long drive to Tehrangeles, which is where my husband really wanted to go.  It has a large Persian population and he wanted to see what it was like.  We were a little disappointed because we either went to the wrong area or was just an underwhelming number of Persian places, I honestly think we went to the wrong area.  We drove by the Hollywood sign in the distance and drove through what I think was Bel-Air and the theme song for "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" popped into my head.
After that, we headed back to Phoenix, we made a short stop at the Joshua tree national park, which was not too exciting but it was interesting to see.

My mother-in-law will  be coming in a few weeks, sometime in October.  So we will probably make a trip to San Diego, we want to go to Rocky Point in Mexico but realized she would need a visa and decided to keep it in the states.  I am also hoping we can drive up to Northern Arizona and check out some of the fall scenes, it would be really nice to see the actual seasons changing.
