I’m sure you have been online shopping and you see an ad that relates to exactly what you were just shopping for and you’re wondering how the hell do they know what you are searching for? Well as if it wasn’t bad already, Google actually had a Policy for their advertising company they bought in 2007 to keep browsing records and personally identifiable information separate. Googles owner even went as far as saying in 2007when he bought the ad company that Privacy is the “number one priority when we contemplate new types of advertising products.” Well this summer the owner secretly erased lines in the privacy policy that allows them to track your browsing history for ad purposes. Now you may be thinking, why does this matter? Who cares that they know what to buy? Well its the principle of the matter, if they are able to release personal information about us by simply erasing part of their privacy policy, how else can our information be distributed on the internet without us knowing? The internet is a dangerous place for identity now a days, there is no real privacy on the internet, any computer screen can be reached. The only option is to only display what you are willing to let others to see and exploit, or secure your network.
