Stop 1: T345, Kohei Takekoshi "Tree of Tokamachi"

This site needed some sort of text explanation. All it amounted to was broken mosaic steps leading down to the roots of a giant tree that had been cut down.
(For the first time, I realized, with some help of the other tour members, that some sites like this one you must stamp yourself with the stamp dangling from the sign.)

The Seven Autumn Grasses (秋の七草)

Bush clover (hagi, 萩)
Chinese silvergrass (trad. obana 尾花; modern susuki 薄)
Kudzu (kuzu, 葛)
Fringed pinks, aka wild carnations (nadeshiko, 撫子)
Golden lace (ominaeshi, 女郎花)
Thoroughwort (fujibakama, 藤袴)
Chinese bellflower or balloon flower (kikyō, 桔梗)
