The embrace

Ahmad Shamlou: (The Embrace, 1975)

In the pallet–
love amounts to thirst,
your embrace keeps me–
content, and silent.

In the pallet–
love has seduced- into silence,
my unquenchable hunger.

Translation: Maryam Dilmaghani, June 2011, Halifax.
