डोकरी पड़ी रहती उस कोने में,
सोचती रहती थी जवानी के वो दिन,
जब बना लेती वो आपने लिए खाना,
जब सुनन के लिया उसे कान नहीं डंडे पड़ते थे

वो भी मोहले में सब को जानती थी
सब के दुःख सुख में हाँथ बटा लेती थी
आज हाँथ हिलने से पहले भी सोचती हैं
कही ये पुराने कपडे फैट ना जाये

पुराने दिनों से बस उसकी सेहली बची हैं
ख़ुशी ये की उसकी पेंशन बंद गयी हैं
उसे नहीं माँगना पड़ता आपने ब्च्चो से आसरा
उसे नहीं छोड़नी पड़ती अपनी दवाई का पत्ता

बुढ़िया  खुश हो लेती हैं, आपने नाती पीटो को खेतल देख,
और उनके जन्मदिनी पे ताली बाज़ के,
वार्ना को पूछता हैं कि खाया या नहीं खाया,
कोन सोचता हैं वो भी बड़े होन के बाद, होंगे बूढे  ...

Today and Tomorrow by Ravindra Vikram Singh

Old woman keeps lying in the corner,
Thinking about her youthful days,
when she could cook herself,
when had company to gossip.

She knew everyone in the neighborhood,
She used share their pains and happiness,
Today she thinks before moving her hand,
]By chance, the old rag she wears shouldn't fall.

From old days, her one friend is still alive,
Gladly her friend gets pension,
Her friend doesn't have to ask, her kids for monetary support,
She doesn't need to leave her stripe of medicine.

Old woman gets happy, you see grandchildren playing,
And by clapping on their birthdays,
Otherwise who asks  her whether eaten or not eaten,
Who thinks that after getting young,
they will get old...
