After an impressive performance in the NBA Summer League hosted in Las Vegas, Cameron Payne has agreed to sign a two-year deal with the reigning NBA Champions the Toronto Raptors. Payne played three games with the Dallas Mavericks where he averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2.7 steals in 29 minutes per game while shooting a 51 percent from the field.

Payne was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 14th pick overall in the 2015 NBA Draft but his journey in the NBA has been very unstable. He played his rookie season with the Thunder but they traded him to the Chicago Bulls, along with Joffrey Lauvergne and Anthony Morrow, in exchange of Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott.

He stayed playing for the Bulls until the past season when he was waived by the team. After, he signed a ten-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Last season, Payne played in a total of 40 games between the Bulls and the Cavaliers where he averaged 6.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 17.8 minutes per game while shooting a 43 percent from the field.
