Even with NBA free agency winding down and training camp around the corner, there will never be a shortage of news. Especially if LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are somehow involved. According to cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon, he expects Wade to be on the Cavaliers this season at some point. It was previously reported that the Chicago Bulls intend to buy out the rest of Wade’s contract, letting him sign with anyone.

Vardon, on the “Wine and Gold Talk” podcast, says that he has information from sources close to James that say Wade will be with the Cavs. “As of right now, people close to James are fairly confident that, at some point this year, Dwyane Wade is going to end up on the Cavs,” Vardon says. There have been numerous signs that Wade would join Cleveland dating back to last summer. Wade, a Chicago native, picked up his option with the team in June and appeared willing to stay in the Windy City for the eventual rebuild. Now, that scenario seems increasingly unlikely.

There is no timeline for the Bulls to buy out Dwyane Wade. It could come after the trade deadline, prior to opening night, or any time in between. It is far too early to speculate on how Wade could help the Cavaliers, but his presence would surely improve the team whether he starts or not. The Los Angeles Lakers also have shown interest in Wade, supposedly in an attempt to lure James to La La Land. But in the meantime, a Wade-LeBron team-up could be in the works for this season.
