Karan Johar has always been associated with film-making. The director producer recently has shown his affinity for the small-screen as well and has made several appearances on television shows. Karan first ventured out into television shows with his celebrity chat show Koffee with Karan that turned hugely popular. “I started with Koffee With Karan as a hobby. I am a people’s person, I like to know about their lives and how they think. I was offered many shows in the past, but I never took them up because I felt that I hadn’t achieved that level where I could judge others. I felt I needed to work much more. Now, with almost 18 years of experience in the industry, I feel maybe I have the right to have an opinion. I really believe that you have to earn the right to judge somebody else.” Apart from that, he has recently judged reality shows including India’s Got Talent and Jhalak Dikhla Ja, all of which has successfully brought viewers closer to their television screens at home!
Now, Karan Johar will host the English talk show Packed To The Rafters. A well-packaged family drama, the show will further bring Karan Johar to the limelight. Quoting Karan Johar, “The show is tremendously popular in Australia and has a close connect with the family system that is also very authentically Indian. It deals with emotions that are relatable and identifiable, especially those of the lead protagonists, and how they behave. It is about how the life of a couple changes when their grownup children come back, just when they thought they were going to give each other time.”
That apart, Karan Johar’s most recent release titled Student of the Year has quickly turned popular after hitting cinema screens on the 19th of October, 2012. The film features three newcomers in the lead including Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Also, this film includes veteran actor Rishi Kapoor playing an unconventional role of a gay school dean.
