The Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, and producer, Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment, who earlier gave us socially-relevant and successful films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Rustom have collaborated again for Padman. The social drama, which is one of the highly-anticipated films of the year has impressed the audience with its unusual concept. Since the film is low on budget and high on content, we are expecting it to be a box office winner like Akki’s other films.

Padman is based on the life of Tamil Nadu-based social activist, Arunachalam Muruganantham. Akshay Kumar portrays the central character in the film, who finds a way to make cheap, affordable sanitary napkins for the women in his village. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in pivotal roles and is directed by R. Balki, who was previously at the helm of movies like Ki And Ka, Shamitabh, Paa and Cheeni Kum. Like Baby and Airlift, Akshay Kumar has booked the Republic Day weekend for Padman. The film will hit the screens on January 25 and will lock horns with one of the most controversial films of recent times, Padmaavat, which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. On the professional front, Akshay Kumar has exciting line-ups for us in his store. With first being Rajinikanth’s 2.0, which is the costliest film of the Indian cinema and marks the Tamil debut of Akshay. The Hit machine will be next seen in Gold, where he’ll be portraying the character of a hockey player Balbir Singh. In 2019, the actor will be seen in Karan Johar’s Kesari and Sajid Khan’s Housefull 4. Looking at his future projects, it seems Akshay will rule the box office for the next two years.
